The POCO F8 Ultra is the top model of the POCO F8 range. It combines the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a 6.9-inch 120Hz HyperRGB AMOLED display, a triple 50MP camera system with a 5x periscope telephoto, a 6500 mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, and Sound by Bose speakers with a separate subwoofer. This page goes through what Xiaomi publishes about the device on its global product pages, how it relates to the cheaper F8 Pro, and where the compromises are. It is based on published specifications and manufacturer information rather than hands-on lab testing, and the performance numbers are POCO's own internal figures.

Where it sits in the lineup

POCO is Xiaomi's performance-first brand, and the F series is its high-end tier. The F8 Ultra sits above the POCO F8 Pro, which uses last generation's Snapdragon 8 Elite, a smaller 6.59-inch screen and a 6210 mAh battery. The Ultra gets the newer Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a larger body, wireless charging, a periscope telephoto with 115 mm equivalent reach, a larger main sensor and a higher-resolution front camera. The page lists two memory configurations, 12 GB with 256 GB and 16 GB with 512 GB, and two colours: Black and Denim Blue. Xiaomi notes that "Denim Blue" describes colour and finish only, and no denim fabric is used. No US price is published on the page used here.

Within Xiaomi's own portfolio, the closest comparison for camera ambition is the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, which belongs to the main Xiaomi flagship line rather than to POCO.

Design, display and build

The phone is 163.33 mm tall and 77.82 mm wide. Thickness is 7.9 mm for the black version and 8.3 mm for Denim Blue, and weight is 218 g and 220 g respectively. It is a large and fairly heavy phone, as expected with a 6500 mAh battery and a 6.9-inch panel. The back is made of glass fibre, which POCO says makes the body lighter and thinner while remaining durable and crack-resistant. The frame, camera decoration and lens bezel are aluminium alloy. The textured finish uses what POCO calls a third-generation nano-tech material, which it says improves durability and stain resistance. The screen is covered by POCO Shield Glass, and the phone is rated IP68, which covers dust and immersion in fresh water at 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes. As with all such ratings, the conditions are laboratory conditions and the warranty does not cover liquid damage.

The display is a 6.9-inch (6.85 inches measured diagonally in the full rectangle) HyperRGB AMOLED with a resolution of 2608 x 1200 pixels and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. "HyperRGB" refers to a full RGB subpixel arrangement, which POCO says gives sharpness comparable to a 2K panel while using less power than the previous generation. Peak brightness is 3500 nits over 25 percent of the screen area, with 2000 nits in high-brightness mode and 600 nits typical. The minimum is 1 nit. The panel supports 12-bit colour, 68 billion colours, the DCI-P3 gamut, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, and has a touch sampling rate of up to 480Hz, with an instant rate of 2560Hz in Game Turbo mode. Eye-care certifications from TÜV Rheinland cover low blue light, flicker-free operation and circadian friendliness. The bezels are thin, with a 1.68 mm bottom bezel and a screen-to-body ratio of 94.25 percent, according to POCO's internal data. An ultrasonic fingerprint sensor sits under the display.

Performance and software

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is built on a 3 nm process with two prime cores running at up to 4.6 GHz and six performance cores at up to 3.6 GHz. Memory is LPDDR5X rated at 9600 Mbps and storage is UFS 4.1. POCO quotes an AnTuTu v11 score of 3,944,934 from its internal lab, and Qualcomm-provided gains of 20 percent in CPU performance and 35 percent in efficiency over the Snapdragon 8 Elite. These are manufacturer figures, so treat them as indications rather than independent results.

The F8 Ultra also has a dedicated graphics chip, VisionBoost D8, which handles frame interpolation to 120 frames per second, AI super resolution for a short list of supported games and an HDR effect for games and for video on YouTube and Netflix. Cooling uses a 6700 mm² dual-layer "IceLoop" system that targets both the processor and the camera module. The software is Xiaomi HyperOS 3, with Google Gemini and Circle to Search integrated, and Xiaomi's own AI tools such as speech recognition, interpreter, search and writing help, which are available in selected regions and languages. The page also mentions Xiaomi Offline Communication, which supports voice calls without a network over about a kilometre in open environments, with availability depending on the country.

Camera

The rear system has three 50MP cameras. The main camera uses the Light Fusion 950 sensor at 1/1.31 inch with f/1.67 optics and optical stabilisation. The periscope telephoto has a 115 mm equivalent focal length, f/3.0 and OIS, which is the first time a POCO phone has used a 5x periscope. The ultrawide camera is 50MP at 18 mm equivalent with f/2.4. This is a balanced setup: many competitors still use an 8MP or 12MP ultrawide. POCO claims a dynamic range of 13.5 EV, a 43 percent gain in light sensitivity over the previous sensor and a lens module with a precise multi-coating process to reduce flare and ghosting. The front camera is 32MP, with an automatic switch to a 0.8x wide view when two people are detected.

Video recording goes up to 8K at 30 frames per second on the rear camera, 4K at 30 or 60 fps, and slow motion up to 1920 fps at 720p. The front camera records 4K at 30 fps. There are also dynamic shots, film filters in classic positive and negative styles, a video teleprompter and AI tools for beautification and cut-outs. As always, the quality of the images depends on tuning and processing that cannot be judged from a data sheet, so the comparison pages and independent reviews are worth checking against the big camera phones such as the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Battery and charging

The battery is a silicon-carbon dual-cell unit with a typical capacity of 6500 mAh, which POCO says is the largest in the F series. It retains at least 80 percent of its capacity after 1,600 cycles, according to POCO's internal test. Wired charging is 100W, with a stated 38 minutes from empty to full, and wireless charging is 50W, with 31 minutes to 50 percent. Wired reverse charging reaches 22.5W. POCO says that 100W PPS support for universal chargers will come through an update in early December 2025 in regions where it is available. The phone has a smart charging mode that adjusts speed to temperature and app use, and a stated continuous-use time of 15.14 hours from POCO's laboratory. Wireless chargers are sold separately, and the availability of the power adapter in the box depends on the local seller.

Even with those caveats, the combination of 6500 mAh, 100W wired and 50W wireless charging is an unusual one, and it is worth setting against rivals such as the OnePlus 15 in the comparison tool. Real-world endurance will depend on the brightness, the refresh rate and the 5G signal.

Who it is for

The F8 Ultra is for people who want flagship-class hardware and are happy with a large phone: mobile gamers, heavy multitaskers, people who photograph subjects at a distance and anyone who wants fast wireless charging. Compromises and open questions

In summary, the POCO F8 Ultra offers a long list of high-end features, from a 5x periscope camera and a huge battery to wireless charging and Bose-tuned audio. The price for that is size, weight and unverified manufacturer benchmarks. See the rankings for how it compares with other phones in the database.
