The POCO F6 Pro is the performance-focused flagship of Xiaomi's POCO sub-brand in 2024, and its identity is clear from the specification sheet: a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, a 6.67-inch WQHD+ AMOLED display, a 5,000 mAh battery and 120W charging, with configurations reaching 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. POCO's business model is to deliver flagship-class hardware at a lower price than the main Xiaomi range by trimming extras such as wireless charging, and the F6 Pro follows that pattern. This overview is based on the published specifications and manufacturer information, so it describes what the hardware is designed to do and marks POCO's statements as claims.

Where it sits in the lineup

The F-series is POCO's high-performance line, and the F6 Pro is its top model for 2024. It uses the previous-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 rather than the newest chip, a common strategy for keeping the price down while still delivering flagship speed. The official page lists three memory and storage combinations: 12GB with 256GB, 12GB with 512GB and 16GB with 1TB, all using LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage. It comes in black and white. POCO did not publish a United States price on the pages we used, so none is given here. For the generations that followed, see the POCO F7 Pro, the POCO F7 Ultra and the POCO F8 Pro, which show how quickly the line has moved on.

Design and display

The phone measures 160.86 by 74.95 by 8.21 mm and weighs 209 g, which makes it a fairly heavy handset by modern standards. POCO describes a metal frame, a quad-curved glass back with a velvet-touch finish and a curved glass camera decoration. The two colours are presented with a moon theme: the black version is inspired by dark moon rock, and the white version by a glowing full moon above snow-capped mountains. The black model also has a golden ring around the camera lenses, which the page says is available only on black. The pages we used do not list a dust and water resistance rating, so we do not claim one.

The display is the main reason to look at this phone. It is a 6.67-inch Flow AMOLED panel at 3200 by 1440 pixels, about 526 pixels per inch, with a refresh rate up to 120Hz. POCO lists a typical brightness of 700 nits, 1,200 nits in high-brightness mode and a peak of 4,000 nits, plus a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 12-bit colour depth, DCI-P3 coverage, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Touch sampling goes up to 480Hz, with an instant rate of 2160Hz, and PWM dimming reaches 3,840Hz, which matters to people who are sensitive to flicker. TÜV Rheinland certificates for low blue light, flicker-free and circadian-friendly operation are listed. A quad-HD resolution on a 6.67-inch screen is rarer in this price class, and it brings sharpness at the cost of battery draw, although the adaptive refresh rate tops out at 120Hz and not at 144Hz. The in-screen fingerprint sensor can measure heart rate, POCO says, but the phone is not a medical device.

Performance and software

The processor is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 on TSMC's 4 nm process, an octa-core design with one Cortex-X3 core at up to 3.19GHz, two Cortex-A715 and two Cortex-A710 cores at up to 2.8GHz, and three Cortex-A510 cores at up to 2.0GHz. POCO quotes an AnTuTu v10 score of 1,642,770 from its own laboratory, which is a manufacturer figure under its test conditions. The more interesting engineering is the cooling: POCO describes LiquidCool Technology 4.0 with an IceLoop system using 5,000 square millimetres of stainless steel, which it says improves thermal efficiency threefold compared with a traditional vapour chamber. If that holds in practice, it should help the phone keep its speed in long games, which is exactly what this class of phone is bought for. A game-optimisation layer called WildBoost Optimization 3.0 is mentioned, to be delivered over the air.

The phone runs Xiaomi HyperOS. The sources do not name an Android version or an update commitment, so we do not state either, and buyers who care about long-term support should check the current policy before purchase. POCO also lists AI features such as subtitles, album search and Magic Erase Pro, noting that they arrive via beta access and over-the-air updates, so availability will vary by region. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7 depending on region, Bluetooth 5.3 with LDAC, LHDC and Auracast support, NFC, dual SIM and an infrared blaster. Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and a linear vibration motor complete the package.

Camera

The main camera uses a 50MP Light Fusion 800 sensor of 1/1.55-inch size with an f/1.6 lens, a six-element lens design and optical image stabilisation. Pixel binning produces 2.0 micron super pixels. The other two rear cameras are modest: an 8MP ultra-wide with a 119-degree field of view and a 2MP macro. There is no telephoto lens, which is the most important limit for photography buyers, since this price class often includes one. Video can be recorded in 8K at 24 frames per second, in 4K at up to 60, and in slow motion up to 1,920 frames per second at 720p. Camera modes include Film Camera filters, long exposure, night mode, 50MP mode and a burst mode of up to 50 frames at 30 frames per second.

The front camera is a 16MP unit that records 1080p video. In short, the F6 Pro puts its camera budget into one good main sensor and a decent selfie camera; the supporting lenses exist mainly to make the specification sheet complete.

Battery and charging

The battery has a typical capacity of 5,000 mAh, and charging runs at 120W with a 120W charger in the box in most markets (POCO notes that some countries do not include a charger). POCO claims a charge to 100 percent in 19 minutes with the in-box charger when a boost-charging option is enabled and the display is off, under its laboratory conditions; an ordinary charge with the screen on will take longer. A dedicated charging chip, the Surge P2, and a battery chip, the Surge G1, manage charging, along with features such as smart overnight charging that learns your schedule. A hibernation mode is said to give two hours of standby or 30 minutes of calls on 1 percent of battery. Wireless charging is not listed on the specification page.

Who it is for

The POCO F6 Pro is for buyers who prioritise speed, screen quality and charging over camera versatility or a long update promise. Gamers and heavy multitaskers will appreciate the processor, the cooling system and the high-resolution display; people who watch a lot of video will like the 4,000-nit peak and Dolby Vision. It is less well matched to photographers who want zoom or to those who want wireless charging.

Compromises to weigh

In short, the POCO F6 Pro is a specification-led value flagship: it spends its budget on the processor, the display and the charging system, and it asks buyers to accept a weaker camera set and fewer extras in return.
