The Pixel Watch 2 addresses the single biggest complaint about the original: battery life. A more efficient Snapdragon SW5100 chipset (moved off the older W-series silicon) and revised software power management stretch real-world battery life meaningfully further under normal use.
The continuous heart rate and skin temperature sensors were redesigned to reduce false readings during workouts, and the new electrodermal activity (EDA) sensor adds a stress-tracking feature Fitbit users will recognize — unsurprising given Google's acquisition of Fitbit.
The domed Gorilla Glass display and interchangeable band system are unchanged from the original, and Wear OS 4 continues to lean on deep Google app integration (Maps, Assistant, Wallet) as its main differentiator against Samsung's Galaxy Watch line.
