Google Pixel 10 Pro / Pro XL

The Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL are the premium end of Google's tenth-generation Pixel phones. Google introduced them in August 2025 together with the standard Pixel 10 and put them on shelves on 28 August. This page collects what Google itself said about the two Pro models at launch, keeps its claims labelled as claims, and points out where the announcement leaves questions open. Both phones share one design and one feature set and differ mainly in screen size, battery and wireless charging speed, so we treat them as one product entry.

Launch, sizes and price

Google announced the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL as its tenth generation of phones. Pre-orders opened on the day of the announcement, with prices starting at 799 dollars for the Pixel 10, 999 dollars for the Pixel 10 Pro and 1,199 dollars for the Pixel 10 Pro XL, and availability at the Google Store and retail partners from 28 August. The Pro comes in a 6.3-inch size and the Pro XL in a 6.8-inch size, which Google describes as an uncompromised choice of size. Colours are Obsidian and Porcelain, plus the new Moonstone and Jade. Design and display

Google says the Pixel 10 phones refine the iconic Pixel camera bar, and that the Pro models carry its most premium design and its brightest Super Actua displays. Google did not give a peak brightness figure for the Pro screens in the launch post, only for the standard Pixel 10, whose 6.3-inch Actua display reaches 3,000 nits, so we do not repeat a number for the Pro that the source does not state. All three phones are made with the most recycled materials Google has used in a Pixel so far. They are also the first phones to ship with Material 3 Expressive, the newest version of Google's interface language, which Google describes as bringing springy animations and more personalisation to the phone.

Tensor G5: the chip behind the features

Every Pixel 10 runs on Google Tensor G5, which Google calls the most significant upgrade to its chip since Tensor debuted. The company says it is designed on TSMC's 3 nm process, has a TPU that is up to 60 percent more powerful and a CPU that is 34 percent faster on average than the previous generation. Google also says G5 is the first chip to run the newest Gemini Nano model, developed with Google DeepMind, and that on this chip the model runs 2.6 times faster and twice as efficiently for tasks such as Pixel Screenshots and the Recorder app. It adds new security hardware and an all-new image signal processor. Those are Google's numbers from its own comparison, and independent benchmarks are the place to check how much of that shows up in daily use. The Pro models also have 16 GB of RAM.

Proactive AI: Magic Cue and Camera Coach

The headline software feature is Magic Cue. Google describes it as proactive support woven into apps such as Messages and the Phone app: when you call an airline, for example, it can find flight details from your email and show them during the call, and in a chat it can suggest an address or the right photos to share. Google says that, with your permission, Tensor G5 and the latest Gemini Nano run Magic Cue privately on the phone. Camera Coach, built on Gemini models, offers suggestions about framing and lighting and explains basic photography ideas, aimed at people early in their photography journey. Google says the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL get the standard Pixel 10 feature set plus the pro-only camera tools described next.

Camera: what Pro Res Zoom actually is

Google calls the Pro models' triple rear system its best yet. It lists an optical image stabilization module with twice the range of compensation, which combined with Video Boost is described as the best video stabilization on a smartphone, and 50MP high-resolution photos on the Pro models. The signature new feature is Pro Res Zoom, exclusive to the Pro and Pro XL, which extends zoom to 100x. Google's own explanation is unusually candid: it is not a simple crop but a single-step diffusion model that runs entirely on the device in a few seconds, removing noise and sharpening the image while considering both individual pixels and the wider scene. It uses the few details that exist, such as shapes and colours, and fills in the missing information, so the result is partly extrapolated by generative AI rather than purely captured by the sensor. That is useful for a distant bird or landmark, but it also means a 100x image is an interpretation, and Google says Pro Res Zoom works best on wildlife, landscapes and landmarks. Auto Best Take activates when the phone senses a group photo and analyses up to 150 frames to pick or blend the best expressions. The Pixel 10 camera app is also the first with C2PA Content Credentials built in, which record on the device how an image was created.

Battery, charging and updates

Google says the Pro models have the biggest batteries in the Pixel 10 family and that every Pixel 10 offers over 30 hours of battery life, a claim from Google's own usage assumptions. It does not list milliampere-hour capacities in the launch post. Wired charging is faster than before, and the phones include Pixelsnap, built-in Qi2 wireless charging with magnets that work with a range of new accessories. The Pro XL supports 25W Qi2.2 wireless charging. On software, Google promises seven years of Pixel Drops, operating-system updates and security updates.

Who it is for, and what to check

The Pro models make sense for people who value the camera, the on-device AI and long software support more than a big spec sheet, and who want a choice between a compact and a large body. What the launch announcement does not tell you is equally important: no battery capacity, no full display specification and no storage tiers are given in the sources we relied on, so check the store listing before you buy.
