The vivo V30 Pro is the camera-led model of vivo's V30 line, and it is built around one idea: a mid-premium phone that is thin, light and good at portraits. It is the first V-series model to carry ZEISS-branded optics on three rear cameras, and it pairs them with a curved 6.78-inch AMOLED screen, a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chip, a 5000 mAh battery and 80W wired charging, all in a body that is only 7.45 mm thick. This review is based on the published specifications and manufacturer information from vivo's global product and specification pages. Figures that come from vivo's own laboratory tests are presented as claims, not as independent measurements. In short, the V30 Pro is aimed at people who photograph friends and family more than they play demanding games, and who want a slim phone without giving up battery size.
Where the V30 Pro sits in the lineup
vivo's V series is positioned in the upper mid-range, and the Pro variant is the one that gets the most ambitious camera hardware. The global specification page lists a single configuration, 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM with 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. vivo also promotes "12GB + 12GB extended RAM", which is a software feature that borrows part of the storage; its footnote states that the extra memory is realised through software, so the physical memory is 12GB. Storage cannot be expanded with a card. For buyers who want something cheaper from the same family, the vivo V30e sits lower in the family, while later models such as the vivo V40 and vivo V50 show how the line evolved. A direct side-by-side with the next generation is available at vivo V30 Pro vs vivo V40, and the rankings page puts it in a wider market context.
Design, display and build
The V30 Pro measures 164.36 x 75.1 x 7.45 mm and weighs 188 g, which vivo describes as its slimmest phone with a 5000 mAh battery. The back is glass, and the camera area uses a stepped, one-piece design with a large square module for the three lenses and a second rounded panel below it that holds the Aura Light ring. vivo offers four finishes: Noble Black, Bloom White, Lush Green and Waving Aqua. The white version has a petal-like pattern that vivo says changes with the light, and the aqua version has a wave-like texture. The phone is rated IP54 for splashes and dust, which does not cover immersion.
The front is a 3D curved AMOLED with a resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels on a 6.78-inch diagonal, about 452 pixels per inch. Refresh rates of 60Hz and 120Hz are supported. vivo quotes a local peak brightness of 2800 nits and a global peak of 1200 nits, 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage, a 300Hz touch sampling rate, an 8,000,000:1 contrast ratio and PWM dimming at 2,160Hz when the screen runs at 90Hz (1,920Hz at 60 or 120Hz). The panel also carries an SGS low-blue-light certification and an "anti-fatigue" night mode. As always, the peak brightness numbers apply to small highlights or short periods, not to constant full-screen use. The curved edges give a pleasant, slim feel, although they can cause accidental touches and reflections for some users. vivo adds a wet-hand touch algorithm and Schott alpha glass on the front.
Performance and software
The Dimensity 8200 is built on a 4nm TSMC process, with one Cortex-A78 core at up to 3.1GHz, three more A78 cores at up to 3.0GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at up to 2.0GHz, plus an Arm Mali-G610 graphics unit. vivo claims an AnTuTu score of about 990,000 on the 12GB + 512GB edition, measured in its own laboratory. That makes the chip a strong upper-mid-range option, comfortable with demanding games at sensible settings and with heavy multitasking, although it is not on the level of the latest flagship processors. A vapour chamber of 3,002 mm² and a total cooling area of 35,141 mm² are meant to keep performance stable during long sessions, with eleven temperature sensors monitoring heat. These are manufacturer figures.
The specification page lists Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14. vivo highlights features such as RAM Saver, which it says adds up to 600 MB of extra space, App Retainer for restoring apps to their last state, a customisable lock screen and a hidden-photos vault. It also claims a "50-month smooth experience", a result of its own anti-aging evaluation, and not a software-update promise: the pages consulted here do not state how many Android or security updates the phone will receive, so buyers who care about long-term support should confirm the policy for their market. Connectivity includes 5G on a wide list of bands, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, dual nano-SIM and Wi-Fi on 2.4 and 5GHz. The USB port is USB 2.0 and there is no FM radio and no headphone jack listed.
Camera
Camera is the reason this phone exists. The rear system has three 50MP cameras: a main camera with optical image stabilisation (f/1.88, 84-degree field of view), a ZEISS "professional portrait" camera with a 50 mm focal length and 2x zoom (f/1.85, autofocus), and an ultra-wide with a 119-degree field of view (f/2.0, autofocus). The main sensor is described as a Sony IMX920 with vivo's VCS True Color technology, and vivo claims improvements in image purity and low-light intake compared with the previous V29 Pro. Software features include ZEISS-style bokeh effects inspired by classic lenses, a cinematic style with oval flares, ZEISS border watermarks, and an improved Aura Light with dual colour temperature that is designed to soften lighting in portraits and in night videos.
The front camera is also a 50MP unit, with autofocus, an f/2.0 aperture and a 92-degree field of view, and it includes a group-selfie mode. vivo says the ultra-wide can capture up to 30 faces in a frame. Video recording reaches 4K, and the page lists dual view, micro movie and a vlog creator with templates. A telephoto in the strict sense is absent: the 2x portrait lens is a short telephoto equivalent, so long-range zoom still relies on cropping. Real-world quality will depend on vivo's processing; the strengths vivo claims are natural-looking portraits and good colour in low light.
Battery and charging
The battery has a typical capacity of 5000 mAh (rated 4895 mAh), the largest in the V series according to vivo, and it supports 80W FlashCharge. vivo says a full charge from 1 percent takes about 48 minutes with the supplied charger, and the box contains the charger, a USB cable and a phone case. Laboratory claims include up to 16 hours of YouTube streaming, 13 hours of Instagram browsing and 8 hours of PUBG, plus a battery that keeps at least 80 percent of its capacity after 1,600 cycles, which vivo equates to about four years of daily use. These conditions are set in its lab, so real life will be shorter. There is no wireless charging listed.
Who the V30 Pro is for
This phone suits buyers who take many portraits, travel photos and videos of people, who like a slim and light handset with a large battery, and who want fast charging. It is also a reasonable all-rounder for gaming at moderate settings. Anyone who needs a true long telephoto, wireless charging, a headphone jack or an expandable storage slot should look elsewhere.
Compromises to weigh
- Storage: a single 512GB configuration is listed, with no card slot.
- Memory marketing: the "12GB + 12GB" claim includes software-based extended RAM; physical RAM is 12GB.
- Telephoto: the 2x portrait lens is short; there is no long-range zoom.
- Charging: no wireless charging listed, and the USB port is USB 2.0.
- Curved screen: it feels slim but may cause accidental touches and reflections.
- Water protection: IP54 covers splashes and dust, not immersion.
Overall, the vivo V30 Pro is a focused camera phone with a strong chip, a fast-charging 5000 mAh battery and a slim body. If portraits matter most to you it makes a clear case for itself, and if you want to see how the idea progressed, compare it with the V40 and the V50.
