The vivo V30e is a mid-range 5G phone built around three ideas: a 3D-curved 120Hz screen, a large 5500 mAh battery and a portrait-oriented camera setup. It arrived in early May 2024 as the more affordable member of the V30 family. This page is based on the specifications published on vivo's Indonesian product page and on the company's own claims, which are marked as claims throughout. No price is quoted, because the official page we used lists only retailer links.
Where it fits in the lineup
The V series is vivo's design-and-camera line for buyers who want a slim, good-looking phone without flagship money. The "e" model is the lighter-spec version in that family, and it relies on a Snapdragon 6-series chip rather than a top-tier processor. In the same naming line, vivo later released the vivo V40e, the vivo V50e and the vivo V60. If you are deciding between the V30e and its direct successor, the table vivo V30e vs vivo V40e puts the published specs side by side, and our phone rankings show how they score overall.
Design and display
The headline feature is the display: a 6.78-inch screen that curves around the edges in what vivo calls a 3D curved design, with a 120Hz refresh rate. The company states a screen-to-body ratio of 93.3 percent, 1.07 billion colours, a P3 colour gamut and a contrast ratio of 8,000,000:1. Eye-comfort certifications from SGS cover low blue light, low flicker and low motion blur, and vivo adds an "Anti-Fatigue Curve 2.0" feature and a "Water Wet Display" mode meant to keep touch working with damp fingers. The cover glass is SCHOTT Xensation. The page does not state the panel technology, resolution or peak brightness, so we do not list them.
The body is slim. vivo lists a thickness of 7.75 mm and a weight of 188 grams for the classy brown version, and 7.65 mm and 179 grams for the sunny green one. Both colours have a large ring-shaped camera module, which vivo describes as a "Time Messenger" rear camera design. The gallery on the product page also shows a third colourway, sunny brown, and Indonesian retail pages use the names Giri Merah and Banyu Biru, so colour names vary by market. Durability claims include IP64 dust and water resistance and a series of tests, including repeated drops from one metre, which vivo describes in its own laboratory terms.
Performance and software
Inside is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, a 4nm chip. vivo says power consumption is lower than the previous generation but gives no comparison figures, so the claim cannot be checked. The phone has 8GB of RAM, and vivo adds an "Extended RAM" feature that borrows up to another 8GB from unused storage, which it says can keep up to 27 apps active in the background. Extended RAM is software-based memory and is not as fast as physical RAM, so it helps multitasking at the margin rather than behaving like a bigger memory chip. The product page we used does not give storage capacities in its text, and it does not state an Android version; vivo links to its Funtouch software and advertises a "50-Month Smooth Experience", along with a customisable lock screen and a hidden-photos feature protected by a password. Connectivity is 5G with a stated peak download speed of 2.9 Gbps, which is a theoretical figure rather than a speed you will see on a network.
For everyday use, a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 and 8GB of RAM are enough for messaging, social media, video and most popular games at moderate settings. Buyers who want the highest frame rates in demanding titles should look higher in the range.
Camera
The camera story is portrait photography. The main sensor is a Sony IMX882: a 50-megapixel sensor with 1.6 micrometre pixels that, by default, combines four pixels into one and outputs 12.5-megapixel pictures, with a full 50-megapixel mode available as an option. vivo's "Aura Light" is its portrait lighting feature; the company states that, in its internal tests, the lighting area is nine times larger and the softness 45 times greater, without naming the reference it compares against. Smart Lighting and Smart Color controls adjust the tone of the light, and a 2x portrait mode is included. Video recording goes up to 4K, and vivo ships a Vlog Movie Creator tool.
The page does not list the other rear cameras or the front camera, so we cannot describe them. That matters for a phone aimed at portraits and social media, and we recommend checking the retail box specification before buying.
Battery and charging
The battery is a 5500 mAh typical cell, and vivo's lab figure is 5390 mAh measured. Charging is 44W FlashCharge, with the charger rated 11V/4A. vivo makes a long-life claim: that the battery keeps at least 80 percent of its health after 1,600 full cycles, which it translates as up to four years of use. Single-app endurance claims from the company are 22 hours of YouTube, 15 hours of Instagram, 9 hours of PUBG and 53 hours of music. These are vendor tests under controlled conditions, so real-world numbers will be lower with mixed use, a bright screen and a mobile signal that moves around. A Super Battery Saver mode is included for emergencies.
Who it is for
The V30e is meant for people who care about looks, a smooth and comfortable screen and a battery that lasts, and who take a lot of portrait photos and selfies. It is also a reasonable fit for anyone who wants a slim phone with a curved display and does not need flagship processing speed. A screen that curves around the edges can feel more premium in the hand, but curved panels are generally more prone to accidental touches and usually cost more to repair than flat ones.
Compromises
Every phone at this level has trade-offs. The processor is not designed for heavy gaming. Extended RAM is software-based. Several specifications that buyers expect to see, such as storage type, the other cameras and the Android version, are missing from the page we used, and an IP64 rating is a lower grade of water protection than the IP67 or IP68 found on more expensive phones: it covers splashes, not immersion. The "50-month smooth experience", the four-year battery and the drop-test claims are all manufacturer statements, not independent results. Finally, the price is not stated on the official page, so the value depends on local retail offers.
A good way to see where this model sits in the market is to line it up with its newer siblings. The V50e and the V60 follow the same design-first logic with newer hardware, and their pages list their own specifications.
