If the Narzo 80 Pro is the fast one, the realme Narzo 80x is the sturdy, long-lasting one. Launched in India on 9 April 2025, it is a budget 5G phone that builds its case on endurance and toughness: a 6,000 mAh battery, a 45W charger in the box, IP69 and IP68 ratings, a military-standard shock test and a 120 Hz screen, all for a price class where those features were once rare. Everything below comes from the published specifications and realme's own product pages, with manufacturer claims marked as claims.
A budget phone with a bigger-phone feature list
The Narzo line is realme's value brand, and the 80x is its entry point for the 80 series. The "x" in the name has long meant the economical model of a range, and that is borne out here: the processor, display and camera are a step below those of the 80 Pro, but the battery capacity is the same, and the water and dust rating is the same too. If you want to compare it with other inexpensive handsets, our side-by-side of the realme Narzo 80x and Pixel 9a sets a very different philosophy against it, and the later Narzo 90 shows where the line went next. We list no US price: the manufacturer material we relied on covers the Indian market only.
Battery first: 6,000 mAh and 45W
The battery is the first thing realme talks about. The typical capacity is 6,000 mAh, with a rated minimum of 5,860 mAh, and the box includes a 45W adapter. realme says that its lab tests give 49.7 hours of calling, 16 hours of Instagram and 12.8 hours of Candy Crush Saga on a charge, and that ten minutes of charging provides about two hours of gaming. These are manufacturer figures from controlled tests, and your results will depend on signal strength, brightness and the apps you use.
Several extras are listed. The phone can send up to 5W to other devices through reverse OTG charging, and it can charge in temperatures as low as minus 10 degrees Celsius. realme also claims the battery should keep more than 80% of its capacity after four years of daily charge-discharge cycles, based on its simulations, and lists voltage, current, temperature and burn protection. A 45W charger is respectable for the class, though it is slower than the 80W unit that comes with the Pro.
Built to be dropped and splashed
This is where the 80x stands out most. realme describes IP69 protection and says the phone was tested to IP69 and IP68 levels under controlled laboratory conditions. The IP68 condition in the footnote is 2 metres of water for 30 minutes, with water temperature within 5 degrees of the device. The company points to integrated foam seals, waterproof membranes and liquid silicone protection inside the body. As always, realme notes that water resistance is not permanent and can decline with wear, and that liquid damage is not covered by the warranty.
The phone has also passed the MIL-STD 810H military shock-resistance tests, with multi-angle drops and high-intensity impact checks. The construction uses what realme calls ArmorShell protection, with tough corner protection, airbag-style cushioning and a reinforced aluminium structure. The screen glass, branded ArmorShell Glass, is claimed to improve drop resistance by 160% and scratch resistance by 300%, though realme warns that there is still a risk of damage from impacts. Further durability numbers, such as 500,000 power-button presses and 20,000 USB plug cycles, are laboratory figures from realme. A Rainwater Smart Touch mode aims to keep the screen usable when it is wet, with a stated touch accuracy of above 95%.
Screen and body
The display measures 17.07 cm (6.72 inches) with a resolution of 2400 x 1080, a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 950 nits. The touch sampling rate reaches 240 Hz, the screen-to-body ratio is 91.4%, and the sheet quotes 82% NTSC gamut, 16.7 million colours and 1,500:1 contrast. Those figures place it clearly below the OLED panel of the Pro, so it is a smooth, bright and practical screen and not a showpiece. realme notes that the refresh rate defaults to an automatic mode that balances battery and smoothness, and the maximum 120 Hz can be forced in the settings. A set of eye-comfort options is included, such as full-brightness DC dimming, scheduled comfort mode, a paper-like display and a bedtime mode.
The body is 165.7 mm tall, 76.22 mm wide and about 7.94 mm thick, and it weighs about 197 g. The SpeedWave pattern on the back is available in Deep Ocean and Sunlit Gold. The fingerprint sensor is on the side, and the ports are a USB Type-C connector and a speaker described as a Super Linear Speaker, with a volume mode that goes up to 200% of normal.
Chip, memory and everyday speed
The Dimensity 6400 is a 6 nm octa-core chip running at up to 2.5 GHz, with an Arm G57 MC2 graphics unit. It is a capable entry-level 5G processor that should run messaging, video, social apps and light games without difficulty, though it is not meant for graphics-heavy titles at high settings. Memory options are 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM with 128 GB of storage. realme adds up to 10 GB of dynamic RAM, giving an 18 GB total with the 8 GB model, and it describes the 18 GB and 128 GB variant as the largest available. The card tray takes either two SIMs or one SIM plus a memory card, which is a trade-off for people who want both.
Software is realme UI 6.0 over Android 15, and the radios include 5G with SA and NSA modes, dual-band Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth 5.3, and GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS. The spec sheet does not list NFC. realme also mentions a Free Call function that works over Bluetooth without a network, subject to local regulation, and software smart-signal tools that it says raise call connection rates and download speeds by up to 15%.
Camera
The camera setup is modest. The main sensor is a 50 MP OmniVision OV50D with an f/1.8 aperture, supported by a 2 MP portrait camera. The spec sheet does not give a front-camera resolution, so we do not state one. Video is limited to 1080p at 60 fps, with 720p slow motion at 120 fps, and there is no 4K recording, which separates it from the Pro. Software features include Street, Portrait, Night, Pro, Tilt Shift, Super Text, Movie and underwater modes, plus an AI Clear Face tool for blurry portraits. Expect fair daylight photos and an ordinary night performance.
Who should buy it and who should look elsewhere
The 80x suits students, commuters, first-time smartphone buyers and anyone who values a battery that lasts and a phone that survives drops and splashes. It also suits people who want a bigger-screen 120 Hz experience for video and social media without paying for an OLED or a fast processor. If you want the best camera, 4K video, an OLED display or fast gaming, the Pro or a mainstream model such as the Galaxy A57 are better matches. The rankings show where the phone lands on a common scale.
The main trade-offs are a basic camera, a 1080p video ceiling, 45W charging, a shared SIM and memory-card tray, no stated NFC and a screen that is brighter than average but not up to OLED standards. Memory beyond the physical 6 GB or 8 GB is virtual, and the endurance and durability claims all come from realme's own tests. On balance, it is a practical, rugged battery phone for the money.
