The realme 16 Pro 5G is the more affordable half of realme's 16 Pro pair, and it keeps most of the headline features of the 16 Pro+: a 200MP main camera, a 144Hz AMOLED screen, a 7,000 mAh battery with 80W charging and an IP69 rating. What it gives up is the telephoto lens, the Snapdragon chip and the faster memory, and it is a little lighter and thinner as a result. This page is based on the published specifications and manufacturer information from realme's India website, the market for which the full specification sheet was available, and realme's own statements are marked as claims. The pages we reviewed state no US price, so none is given here.
Where it sits in the lineup
realme's number series in India includes the 16x 5G, the realme 16 5G, the 16T 5G, the realme 16 Pro+ 5G and this 16 Pro 5G, which is also sold as a Harry Potter Edition in a single 12GB memory configuration. The Pro sits between the plain 16 and the Pro+. It has a larger and sharper screen than the 16, a 200MP main camera instead of a 50MP one and a faster refresh rate, but it lacks the 50MP telephoto lens of the Pro+, which is the main reason to pay more for that model. The comparison of the 16 Pro and the 16 shows the difference with the cheaper phone, and the comparison with the 16 Pro+ shows what the step up adds. The release date of 6 January 2026 comes from the launch information, not from the product page itself.
Design and durability
realme describes the design as "Urban Wild" and credits the designer Naoto Fukasawa. The Pro is the slimmer sibling at about 7.8 mm (the marketing page says 7.75 mm) and about 192 g, with dimensions of about 162.6 x 77.6 mm. The camera decoration is matte-finished metal, the back is a polymer that realme calls "Soft Strength" and describes as smooth and velvety, and the middle frame has a matte finish. The marketing also speaks of an all-flat form, in contrast to the curved edge of the Pro+. There are three standard colours, Master Gold, Orchid Purple and Pebble Grey, and the Harry Potter Edition, which is available only in 12GB with 256GB.
Protection is IP69, and realme says the phone survives hot water at 80 degrees Celsius, as part of its "pro-level" water resistance claims. As with all such ratings, the tests are made in the laboratory and protection can fall with age. The front glass is listed as AGC DT-Star D+. The in-box list on the India page contains the phone, a charger, a SIM ejector tool, a protective case and a quick guide, and notably no USB cable, which differs from the Pro+ whose list includes one. The phone has no memory card slot, no eSIM and, according to the India sheet, no NFC, although realme notes that NFC depends on the region.
Display
The screen is an AMOLED panel of 6.78 inches (17.22 cm) with a resolution of 2772 x 1272 pixels, about 450 pixels per inch and a screen-to-body ratio of 93.57 percent. It refreshes at up to 144Hz, with a touch sampling rate of up to 240Hz and a default of 120Hz; realme also advertises an instantaneous touch response of up to 3,000Hz, which refers to a different measurement. Brightness is listed as 600 nits in normal use, raisable to 1,000 nits in the settings bar, 1,400 nits in high-brightness mode and 6,500 nits peak (APL) for a small area, which realme uses in the "6500nit AMOLED Display" marketing. The panel supports 10-bit colour with 1.07 billion colours, and the Vivid, Cinematic and Colorful modes cover 100 percent of DCI-P3 with Natural at 100 percent sRGB. HDR10+ and Netflix HDR are mentioned. Compared with the 1,800 nits of the Pro+, the Pro's high-brightness mode is somewhat lower, and its screen is a little smaller.
Performance and software
The processor is the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Max 5G with eight cores and an Arm Mali-G615 graphics unit. Memory is LPDDR4X and storage is UFS 3.1, in configurations of 8GB with 128GB, 8GB with 256GB and 12GB with 256GB. realme claims an AnTuTu score of 971,755 and 120 frames per second in mainstream games, together with its "GT Boost" mode. These are the company's own figures and not independent tests. Compared with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and LPDDR5X of the Pro+, the Pro is a clear step lower on paper, which fits its place in the lineup, and for everyday tasks, social media, video and casual gaming it should be adequate.
The software is realme UI 7.0 on Android, and the marketing highlights AI Instant Clip, an AI lighting tool called LightMe, a style generator called StyleMe and automatic framing. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 with LDAC, aptX, aptX HD and LHDC 5.0, a USB Type-C port, an infrared remote and single-band GNSS. realme also advertises a "300% Ultra Volume" mode for the speakers. The cellular band list covers 5G n1, n3, n5, n8, n28, n40, n41, n77 and n78, so check band support against your carrier if you import the phone.
Camera
The camera system is deliberately simple: a 200MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera. The main sensor is a Samsung HP5 of 1/1.56 inches with an f/1.8 aperture, two-axis optical stabilisation and autofocus, and realme says it offers lossless 1x and 2x zoom by using the sensor's resolution. The ultrawide camera has 8MP, an f/2.2 aperture and a 112-degree field of view. There is no telephoto lens and no dedicated macro camera, so anyone who wants optical zoom should look at the Pro+ or at the OPPO Reno15, which offers a 3.5x telephoto at a comparable battery size. The front camera has 50MP and an f/2.4 aperture.
realme's marketing stresses a TÜV-certified LumaColor algorithm for skin tones and lighting, a Vibe Master Mode with 21 tuned looks, a 4K Motion Photo feature and AI editing tools. Video recording is limited to 4K at 30 frames per second on both the rear and the front camera, with 1080p at 60 frames, and slow motion at 120 frames in 1080p and 240 frames in 720p. That is a step below the 4K at 60 frames of the Pro+. As always, camera descriptions are manufacturer claims and not independent test results.
Battery and charging
The battery is rated at 7,000 mAh typical (6,830 mAh rated) with 80W Ultra Charge, 55W PPS, 13.5W PD 2.0 and 10W charging from other standards. realme says the phone "charges once, lasts two days", and the marketing page gives test figures of 22 hours of YouTube, 16.6 hours of WhatsApp and 10.6 hours of gaming, plus 6.8 hours of standby from 1 percent charge, along with a claim of six years of battery health. The company also lists bypass charging, which powers the phone directly from the charger to reduce heat during long gaming sessions, and reverse charging. These numbers come from realme's own tests and depend on settings, network and temperature. The page does not state a charging time. A 7,000 mAh cell in a body of 7.8 mm and 192 g is an impressive combination on paper.
Who it is for
The 16 Pro suits buyers who want a big battery, a smooth 144Hz screen and a high-resolution main camera without paying for the telephoto of the Pro+ or a Snapdragon chip. It is a sensible choice for people who take many photos in good light and who care about endurance and a slim, light body. The special Harry Potter Edition will interest fans. For the wider market, see the rankings.
Compromises
The Pro makes clear trade-offs. There is no telephoto lens, the ultrawide is only 8MP and there is no macro camera. Video stops at 4K and 30 frames per second, and the chip is a notch below the Pro+ with older LPDDR4X memory. There is no memory card slot, no eSIM, no NFC on the India sheet and no USB cable on the India box list. Most marketing numbers, from the AnTuTu score to the 6,500-nit peak brightness and the battery hours, are realme's own figures. Finally, colours, bands and bundled accessories can differ by market.
