The realme 16 Pro+ 5G is the top model of realme's 16 Pro pair, and it is the one that makes the largest claims about photography. The rear camera combines a 200MP main sensor with a 50MP telephoto lens at 3.5x, the screen is a 144Hz AMOLED with a curved edge, the chip is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and the battery holds 7,000 mAh with 80W wired charging. This page is based on the published specifications and manufacturer information from realme's India website, the market for which the full specification sheet was available, and realme's own statements are marked as claims. Pricing and availability differ by country, and the pages we reviewed state no US price.

Where it sits in the lineup

realme's number series in India lists the 16x 5G, the realme 16 5G, the 16T 5G, this 16 Pro+ 5G and the realme 16 Pro 5G, which also has a Harry Potter edition. The Pro+ sits at the top. It shares a 200MP main camera, a 7,000 mAh battery and a 144Hz display with the Pro, but adds a 50MP telephoto lens, a Snapdragon chip with faster LPDDR5X memory and a slightly larger screen. For a look at the exact differences, see the comparison of the 16 Pro+ and the 16 Pro. Against realme's earlier performance flagship, the realme GT 7 Pro, the Pro+ is a camera-first mid-range phone and not a top-tier performance device, since the two phones are positioned very differently. The release date of 6 January 2026 comes from the launch information and is not stated on the product page itself.

Design and durability

realme calls the design "Urban Wild" and credits the designer Naoto Fukasawa. The phone combines a natural-touch back with a metal camera decoration that realme describes as a mirror-polished module with PVD finishing, and a metallic mid-frame. The company says the back uses what it calls an industry-first bio-based organic silicone material, which is meant to feel soft and be durable. The body is about 162.5 mm tall and 76.3 mm wide. Thickness is listed as about 8.1 mm in Camellia Pink and about 8.5 mm in Master Grey and Master Gold, with weights of about 198 g and 203 g, and the marketing page speaks of 8.09 mm. Three colours are offered: Master Gold, Master Grey and Camellia Pink, the last of which is marked as exclusive to India.

Protection is IP69, which realme describes as pro-level water resistance, and it states that the phone withstands high-temperature water jets and immersion. As always, such ratings come from laboratory tests and can degrade with age. The glass is Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The box contains the phone, a charger, a USB cable and a protective case. A memory card slot is not provided, and the phone has no NFC on the India specification page, although realme notes that NFC support depends on the region. There is also no eSIM, only a dual nano-SIM tray.

Display

The screen is an AMOLED panel of 6.8 inches (17.27 cm) with a resolution of 2800 x 1280 pixels, about 453 pixels per inch and a screen-to-body ratio of 94 percent. The refresh rate goes up to 144Hz, the maximum touch sampling rate is 240Hz with a default of 120Hz, and realme also advertises an instantaneous touch response of up to 3,000Hz, a figure that refers to a different measurement from the standard sampling rate. Brightness is listed as 600 nits in normal use, raisable to 1,000 nits in the settings bar, 1,800 nits in high-brightness mode and a peak of 6,500 nits for a small area, a number realme uses in its "6500nit HyperGlow 4D Curve+" branding. The panel supports 10-bit colour with 1.07 billion colours, and the Vivid, Natural, Cinema and Colorful modes cover between 95 and 105 percent of DCI-P3. HDR10+ and Netflix HDR certification are stated in the marketing. Those peak figures are laboratory claims for small bright areas, so the 1,800 nits figure is the more realistic expectation for a bright scene.

Performance and software

The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 has eight cores and an Adreno 722 GPU at 1,150 MHz. It is paired with LPDDR5X memory, which realme brands "Rocket LPDDR5X", and UFS 3.1 storage. The configurations are 8GB with 128GB, 8GB with 256GB and 12GB with 256GB. realme claims an AnTuTu score of up to 1,440,000 compared with 1,270,000 for an unnamed competitor, 120 frames per second in mainstream games and a "GT Boost" mode for gaming. These benchmark claims come from realme and should be treated as marketing, not as independent test data. The same Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 platform also powers the OPPO Reno15, which pairs it with a 6,500 mAh battery and a 50MP telephoto, so the two phones make a natural cross-brand comparison.

The software is realme UI 7.0 on Android, and realme's marketing highlights a set of AI tools: AI Instant Clip, which creates short videos with one tap, an AI lighting tool called LightMe, a style generator called StyleMe, and automatic framing. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 with 160MHz channels and 2x2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.4 with LDAC, aptX, aptX HD and LHDC 5.0 codecs, a USB Type-C port, an infrared remote and single-band GNSS. The cellular band list on the India sheet covers 5G bands n1, n3, n5, n8, n28, n40, n41, n77 and n78, so anyone importing the phone to another region should check band support against their carrier.

Camera

The 200MP main camera uses a Samsung HP5 sensor of 1/1.56 inches with an f/1.8 aperture, two-axis optical stabilisation and autofocus. realme says it offers lossless 1x and 2x zoom via the sensor's resolution. The telephoto lens has 50MP, an f/2.8 aperture, two-axis stabilisation and 3.5x optical zoom, with claims of 7x lossless zoom, 10x long zoom and up to 120x super zoom. The ultrawide camera has 8MP, an f/2.2 aperture and a 115.5-degree field of view and doubles as the macro lens. The telephoto is the key difference from the plain 16 Pro. The selfie camera has 50MP and an f/2.4 aperture, but autofocus is listed as not supported, so close selfies depend on a fixed focus.

The camera marketing centres on portraits. realme says its LumaColor algorithm is certified by TÜV Rheinland as an industry first, with skin-tone optimisation, optical bokeh fusion and light reconstruction, and a "Vibe Master Mode" with 21 tuned looks. Video goes up to 4K at 60 frames per second on the rear and front cameras, with stabilisation, slow motion at up to 240 frames at 720p, and Pro video with 4K at 24 frames. Photo modes include a starry mode, tilt-shift, long exposure and underwater shooting. As with every manufacturer description, these are claims and not independent test results.

Battery and charging

The battery is rated at 7,000 mAh typical (6,850 mAh rated), with charging at up to 80W, plus 55W PPS, 30W VOOC, 13.5W PD and 13.5W QC compatibility. realme advertises that the phone "charges once, lasts two days", but the Pro+ page itself gives no hours of video or gaming in a form we can quote, and no charging time, so we give none. A 7,000 mAh cell in a body of 8.1 to 8.5 mm is large for its thickness, which is why the weight sits near 200 g. Heavier than the Pro by roughly 6 to 11 g, the Pro+ pays a little for its telephoto module and larger screen.

Who it is for

The Pro+ suits people who put photography first and want a telephoto lens without moving to a flagship price, who need a battery that lasts, and who like a bright, smooth screen with a curved edge. The 3.5x lens makes portraits more flattering and the 200MP sensor gives room to crop. It is also a candidate for anyone who wants the fastest chip in the 16 Pro family. For a view across devices see the rankings.

Compromises

The compromises are mostly about what is missing. There is no memory card slot, no eSIM, and NFC is not listed on the India sheet. The selfie camera lacks autofocus. The ultrawide camera has only 8MP. At about 198 to 203 g the phone is heavy, and the curved edge may bother people who dislike accidental touches. Many marketing numbers, from the 6,500-nit peak brightness to the AnTuTu score and the two-day battery, are realme's own claims. Finally, regional variants differ: realme sells different colours and bands by country, and the Camellia Pink edition is exclusive to India.
