The POCO X8 Pro Max is the top model of POCO's X8 family, the value-oriented performance line of Xiaomi. It combines a MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chip, a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, a typical 8500 mAh battery with 100W charging and an IP68 rating, all in a body that weighs 218 g. This page is based on the published specifications and manufacturer information from Xiaomi's global POCO X8 Pro Max overview and specification pages. Every figure that POCO measured in its own laboratory, from brightness to battery life and benchmark scores, is marked here as a manufacturer claim rather than as an independent result.

Place in the lineup

POCO sells the X8 series in three tiers. The plain POCO X8 sits at the bottom, the POCO X8 Pro is the middle model, and the Pro Max described here is the top of the range. The global specification page lists two memory options, 12GB with 256GB and 12GB with 512GB, and four colours: orange, blue, white and black. It adds that colour, storage and RAM availability can differ by region and sales channel. The pages do not give a global on-sale date or a US price, and POCO phones are usually sold through online shops and regional partners rather than US carriers, so no US list price is quoted here. The launch date used for this entry, 17 March 2026, is the announced launch date and is not printed on the product page, so treat it as approximate.

If you want to see what the extra money buys over the middle model, the table for POCO X8 Pro Max vs. POCO X8 Pro puts the main numbers side by side.

Design and display

The Pro Max uses a metal frame with a fiberglass back panel, which POCO describes as ultra-tough yet light. The listed size is 162.9 x 77.9 x 8.2 mm and the weight is 218 g, figures that come from POCO's own lab. The phone is rated IP68, which the footnotes explain as submersion in static fresh water up to 2 metres for up to 30 minutes under laboratory conditions; as usual, the warranty does not cover liquid damage outside those conditions. POCO also cites an SGS five-star certification for resistance to drops, bending and crushing. Visual details include a symmetrical layout, large rounded corners, a red ring around the power button on the white and black versions and a racing stripe on the white one. A programmable RGB light strip on the back can flash in eight colours for calls and notifications and pulse with games and music, and it can show charging status and a camera indicator.

The screen is a 6.83-inch AMOLED panel with 2772 x 1280 pixels, which POCO calls 1.5K. The refresh rate goes up to 120Hz for supported apps. Brightness claims are 800 nits typical, 2000 nits in high brightness mode and 3500 nits peak, with the peak limited to 25 percent of the screen area. The panel supports 12-bit colour, DCI-P3, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, uses 3840Hz PWM dimming and carries three TÜV Rheinland certificates for low blue light, flicker-free and circadian-friendly operation. The bezels are listed as 1.78 mm at the bottom and 1.5 mm elsewhere, for a screen-to-body ratio of 94.27 percent, a lab figure. Protection comes from Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. Touch sampling goes up to 480Hz, with an instant rate of 2560Hz, but both apply only when Game Turbo mode is active.

Performance and software

The Dimensity 9500s is built on a 3nm process and uses an eight-core layout with one Cortex-X925 at up to 3.73GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at up to 3.3GHz and four Cortex-A720 cores at up to 2.4GHz, paired with an Immortalis-G925 MC11 graphics unit and an NPU 890. POCO states an AnTuTu v11 score of 3,085,998, measured in its own lab at about 25 degrees Celsius. Memory is fast LPDDR5X at 9600Mbps and storage is UFS 4.1. Cooling relies on what POCO calls a 3D IceLoop system with a 5800 mm² loop heat pipe and an 11,000 mm² graphite layer, which the company says lowers the chip temperature by up to 3 degrees. In a one-hour role-playing-game test against an unnamed "other flagship phone", POCO reports 55.41 versus 43.2 frames per second for the 1 percent low figure, with similar average frame rates. That is a company-run comparison and should be read as such.

The phone runs Xiaomi HyperOS 3. The page names Google Gemini and Circle to Search, and lists Xiaomi HyperAI features such as writing help, speech recognition, an interpreter and photo editing tools, noting that they depend on region, language and an internet connection. Gaming extras include frame interpolation up to 120 frames per second and AI super resolution for selected titles, which POCO says apply only to certain games the user has enabled them for. The software update period is not stated on the pages used here.

Camera

The camera setup is deliberately simple. The main camera is a 50MP Light Fusion 600 sensor, 1/1.95 inch, with 1.6 µm four-in-one pixels, an f/1.5 lens and optical stabilisation. It is joined by an 8MP ultrawide camera at f/2.2. There is no dedicated telephoto lens; the page advertises a 2x "optical-level" zoom, which on a single main sensor means a crop rather than a separate optic. The front camera is 20MP. Video goes up to 4K at 30 or 60 frames per second, with slow motion at up to 960 frames per second at 720p or 1080p, plus dual video, a teleprompter and motion tracking focus. Software features include a sunset portrait video effect, UltraSnap burst shooting and AI editing tools for cutouts, reflection removal and automatic enhancement. For people who care mostly about photography, a three-camera phone with a real telephoto lens is the safer choice.

Battery and charging

The battery is the headline feature. POCO lists 8500 mAh typical capacity, built with 16 percent silicon-carbon content and an energy density of 847 Wh/L, and adds that the battery configuration may vary by market. The company claims two days of mixed use, more than 74 hours of calling, more than 16 hours of video calls and more than 15 hours of gaming, all from its own lab. Charging is 100W with the included charger, though the footnotes say the adapter may not be in the box in every market. POCO claims 50 percent in 24 minutes, measured from 1 percent in a top-speed mode with the screen off. The phone also supports 100W PPS charging with compatible adapters and 27W wired reverse charging. A TÜV SÜD-based calculation backs a claim of at least 80 percent capacity after 1,600 cycles, about six years of normal use. There is no wireless charging mentioned in the specification list.

Connectivity and extras

The specifications include Wi-Fi 7 where regionally supported, Bluetooth 6.0 with LDAC, LHDC 5.0, LC3 and Auracast, NFC, an infrared blaster and dual SIM using either two nano SIMs or a nano SIM plus an eSIM. An ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor is new for the series, with a press-and-slide enrolment method. Stereo speakers are symmetrical and POCO claims 400 percent volume against the same phone at 100 percent. Xiaomi Offline Communication allows voice calls without a network up to about 500 metres in open spaces, with a SIM card and a Xiaomi account, in regions where it is available.

Who it is for and trade-offs

The POCO X8 Pro Max suits buyers who want flagship-class processing, a big screen and very long endurance without paying for a premium brand name. Heavy mobile gamers and people who rarely find a charger are the obvious audience. Its compromises are the two-camera system without a true telephoto lens, a weight of 218 g and a thickness of 8.2 mm that make it a large phone, and no stated software update promise. A compact phone it is not. Shoppers who put camera quality first may want to look at the Xiaomi 17T,which adds a 5x periscope telephoto, while anyone comparing the biggest batteries in the segment can set this model beside the POCO X8 Pro, which uses a Dimensity 8500-Ultra chip and a 6500 mAh battery.
