The HONOR 200 Lite shares a name and a launch day with the HONOR 200 and 200 Pro, but it is a different kind of phone. Where its siblings chase premium portrait hardware, the Lite is built to deliver a bright AMOLED screen, a 108MP main camera, a slim and light body and sturdy-feeling construction at a far lower price. This review is based on the published specifications and the manufacturer's own material. It covers where the phone fits, what the numbers do and do not tell you, and which kind of buyer will be satisfied.

Where it sits in the lineup

HONOR announced the Lite in Paris on 12 June 2024 as part of the 200 launch and said that from that date it could be bought in the United Kingdom, starting at £279.99. The same press text gives the memory as 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage, and the global specification page also lists a 12GB version. Compared with the HONOR 200 and HONOR 200 Pro, the Lite is not a cut-down version of the same design: it uses a MediaTek processor instead of a Qualcomm one, a single main camera with two small helpers instead of a triple 50MP system, and a smaller battery with slower charging. In the later range the HONOR 400 Lite carries on the same role, and the HONOR X9c offers a different, durability-focused alternative from the brand's X series. No official US price was published for the Lite, so this page lists none.

Design and display

The Lite is the thinnest and lightest of the family. It measures 161.05 x 74.55 x 6.78 mm and weighs about 166 g, figures that HONOR measures without the camera bump. The colours named on the product page are Starry Blue, Cyan Lake and Midnight Black. The screen is a 6.7-inch AMOLED with a 2412 x 1080 resolution, a 20.1:9 shape, 100% DCI-P3 coverage and a stated 93.7% screen-to-body ratio. HONOR quotes 2000 nits of peak brightness and 1200 nits in high-brightness mode, and states that the peak figure applies only in certain scenarios.

One detail worth flagging: none of the official pages checked for this model state the screen refresh rate. HONOR does give a 3240Hz PWM dimming frequency with a TÜV Rheinland flicker-free certificate, plus hardware low blue light, a circadian night display, dynamic dimming, 4096 brightness levels, an e-book mode and a dark mode. Because the refresh rate is not specified, this page makes no claim about it, and buyers who care about 90Hz or 120Hz smoothness should confirm it in the shop listing before purchase. The resolution of 2412 x 1080 is standard full-HD-plus, which is perfectly sharp at this size.

Performance and software

The chipset is the MediaTek Dimensity 6080, an octa-core design with two Cortex-A76 cores at 2.4GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz plus a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. That is an entry-level 5G platform. It is suited to messaging, video streaming, browsing and light games, and it will not match the Snapdragon chips in the other two 200 models for heavy gaming. Memory comes as 8GB or 12GB with 256GB of storage, and HONOR adds a RAM Turbo feature that borrows storage space to act as extra memory, giving "8+8" GB on the 8GB model. This is a virtual extension and does not change the physical RAM, so it should not be confused with 16GB of real memory.

The software is MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14. HONOR lists Magic Capsule, a Parallel Space for separating work and personal use through a two-finger swipe, Magic Portal, a customisable lock screen, auto scene recognition for photography and an "Instant Movie" feature. Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS with several systems, USB-C and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The specification page does not list Wi-Fi 6, which is a small but real gap against the siblings. HONOR does not publish a software update promise on the pages reviewed here.

Camera

The headline is a 108MP main camera with an f/1.75 aperture. HONOR notes that the full 108MP output is available only in its HIGH-RES mode with AI processing, and normal shots use the sensor's usual pixel-binning approach. The two other rear cameras are modest: a 5MP wide and depth camera at f/2.2 and a 2MP macro camera at f/2.4. Digital zoom is stated up to 10x. The company also advertises a multi-focal portrait feature with 1x, 2x and 3x focal lengths, all of which are produced from the main sensor rather than from dedicated lenses.

The front camera is a 50MP unit at f/2.1, and the maker highlights a 78° field of view for solo selfies that widens to 90° for group photos. Video recording is documented as up to 1080p on the specification page. In practical terms, the 50MP selfie camera and the high-resolution main sensor are the selling points, while the 5MP wide and 2MP macro cameras are best seen as supporting extras rather than serious imaging tools. This overview does not compare image quality with rival phones, because no independent test data is quoted.

Battery and charging

The battery is a Li-ion polymer cell with a typical capacity of 4500 mAh, which is smaller than the 5200 mAh cells in the Pro and standard models and is a direct consequence of the slimmer 6.78 mm body. Charging is listed as 35W HONOR SuperCharge, with the specification giving the electrical limit as 11V and 3.2A. HONOR does not publish a charging-time figure on the pages reviewed. There is no wireless charging. For most users the capacity should be enough for a day of ordinary use, but heavy users should treat it as the phone's most obvious limit.

Who it is for

The Lite makes sense for people who want an attractive, thin and light phone with a bright AMOLED screen, a high-resolution main and selfie camera and a robust build, without paying for flagship silicon. HONOR highlights an SGS five-star drop-resistance certification for the whole device, with a stated drop protection height of up to 1.5 metres, and points to its internal durability tests. That is a useful reassurance for first-time smartphone owners, students and anyone who tends to drop their phone. To see how it fares against another brand's entry-level model, the comparison with the Samsung Galaxy A16 lines the key specifications up, and the rankings show where it lands overall.

Compromises

The compromises are the reason for the low price. The Dimensity 6080 is an entry-level chip, the supporting rear cameras are small, the battery is the smallest in the family, there is no wireless charging, Wi-Fi 6 is not listed, and no water or dust resistance rating is stated. The refresh rate is undocumented in the sources used here. The RAM Turbo figure is a software trick, not extra hardware. And since this phone dates from 2024, shoppers should check what newer HONOR models offer at the same price. As a thin, bright-screened, drop-tested phone with a 108MP camera at an entry price, the 200 Lite makes its case clearly, but it is a value device first and a camera phone only on paper.
