The HONOR Magic8 Pro is the top model of HONOR's Magic8 flagship series, built around a 6.71-inch 1-120 Hz LTPO OLED display, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, a 200 MP telephoto camera and a 6,270 mAh silicon-carbon battery in the international version. HONOR first launched the series in China, with pre-orders beginning on 15 October 2025, and then rolled it out to other regions; the UK launch was announced on 8 January 2026 at a price of £1,099.99, and that date is used on this page as the international release date. This page is a specification-and-information review based on the published specifications and manufacturer information, so performance, battery and durability figures are HONOR's claims and not measurements made here. The sections below cover the phone's place in the lineup, its design and display, software and performance, the cameras, the battery and charging, who it suits and the compromises.

Place in the lineup

The Magic line is HONOR's premium flagship family, and the Pro variant is the one with the largest camera hardware and the most complete specification. The previous generation on this site, the HONOR Magic7 Pro, is a useful reference point for how much has changed, while the HONOR Magic V6 covers the same brand's foldable side and the HONOR 600 Pro is a step down in price and ambition. HONOR also lists a Magic8 model below the Pro in the same series.

Against other brands the natural rivals are the large-battery Chinese flagships such as the HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro, and the western camera flagship Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. A full side-by-side with the Samsung is on the page HONOR Magic8 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. HONOR's UK announcement gives the price as £1,099.99, and no official United States price is available, so no dollar figure is shown here.

Design and display

HONOR lists the dimensions as 161.15 x 75.0 x 8.4 mm and the weight as approximately 219 g including the battery. Three colours are named for the international version: Sunrise Gold, Sky Cyan and Black. The product images show a large round camera module on the back with a metallic ring, and a softly textured back panel. Protection is listed as IP68, IP69 and IP69K. The IP69K level follows a separate standard for high-pressure, high-temperature water jets, and HONOR points out that the phone is not professionally water resistant and that splash, water and dust resistance can decrease with daily wear. The front uses what HONOR calls NanoCrystal Shield glass.

The display is a 6.71-inch LTPO OLED with a resolution of 1256 x 2808 pixels and 1.07 billion colours. The refresh rate adapts between 1 and 120 Hz. HONOR claims up to 6,000 nits of HDR peak brightness on its product page, and its UK announcement quotes a global peak of 1,800 nits, which is the more cautious figure. The announcement also lists 4320 Hz PWM dimming, which must be turned on manually, a feature for people who notice flicker at low brightness. Because peak brightness claims depend heavily on the test method and on how much of the screen is lit, the most useful practical number is likely to be the sustained outdoor brightness, which independent reviews will have to measure.

Software and performance

The phone runs MagicOS 10 based on Android 16 and uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform. The listed CPU layout is two Prime cores at 4.6 GHz and six Performance cores at 3.62 GHz with an Adreno 840 GPU. The international configuration is 12 GB of RAM with 512 GB of storage, according to HONOR's specification page. HONOR lists support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 with a broad range of audio codecs including LDAC, aptX Lossless and LC3, and dual SIM or eSIM combinations. The announcement also mentions pre-installed Google Gemini and HONOR's own AI features.

A Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phone with 12 GB of RAM should handle demanding games and heavy multitasking comfortably, but the page publishes no benchmark or thermal data and none is invented here. Software updates are a different matter: HONOR runs a MagicOS security-update programme, and the exact support period for this model should be checked on HONOR's site before buying if long-term updates are a priority.

Cameras

The main camera is 50 MP with a 1/1.3-inch sensor, an f/1.6 lens and optical stabilisation. The telephoto camera is the headline: 200 MP with a 1/1.4-inch sensor, an f/2.6 lens and optical stabilisation, giving 3.7x optical zoom and up to 200x digital zoom, though HONOR notes that the 200x figure requires an over-the-air update. The third camera is a 50 MP ultra-wide with a 122-degree field of view that also handles macro shots. Video can be recorded in 4K at up to 120 frames per second, and photos can reach 16320 x 12288 pixels in the high-resolution mode. Using a 200 MP sensor for telephoto work is unusual, because most phones put their highest-resolution sensor on the main camera; a large telephoto sensor can keep more detail at mid-range zoom levels.

The front camera is also strong: 50 MP at f/2.0 with a 90-degree field of view, plus a 3D depth camera that supports face unlock. A 50 MP selfie camera and a dedicated depth sensor make the phone well suited to video calls and portraits. As with every camera hardware list, the outcome depends on processing, so independent photo comparisons are the best check, especially of the telephoto lens in low light.

Battery and charging

The international Magic8 Pro has a 6,270 mAh silicon-carbon battery, with a rated capacity of 6,090 mAh. Silicon-carbon cells pack more energy into the same volume than conventional graphite ones, which is how HONOR fits more than 6,000 mAh into an 8.4 mm body. Charging is 100W wired and 80W wireless HONOR SuperCharge, and the wireless charger is sold separately. The Chinese launch of the same series cited a larger 7,200 mAh battery with 120W wired charging, so the capacity differs by region, and buyers should look at the specification for their own market. No battery-life hours are given, and none are estimated here, but a capacity above 6,000 mAh is among the largest in a phone of this thickness.

Who it is for

Compromises

In short, the Magic8 Pro is a camera- and battery-centred flagship with a current processor, a large high-resolution telephoto sensor and the highest dust and water rating. It suits buyers who want maximum hardware without folding the screen.
