The Samsung Galaxy S26 FE is the "Fan Edition" of the Galaxy S26 family: a phone that borrows the main ideas of the flagship line and sells them at a lower price. It has a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen, the 3nm Exynos 2500 chipset, a triple rear camera with a 50MP main sensor and a 3x telephoto, a 4,900 mAh battery and a seven-year software promise. Samsung announced it in the United States on 27 August 2026 and put it on sale on 4 September 2026 at a starting price of $699.99. This page goes through the published specifications, explains where the phone sits in Samsung's range and lists the trade-offs. It is based on the manufacturer's specifications and press information, not on hands-on testing.

Where it fits in the lineup

Samsung's "FE" phones arrive months after the main flagships and reuse their design language, software and camera tuning in a package with a slower chip and cheaper materials. The S26 FE is the first phone in the S26 series to launch with One UI 9, based on Android 17, and Samsung describes it as the model that brings the signature Galaxy S features to more buyers from day one. In Samsung's US comparison table it sits above the Galaxy A57, listed from $549.99, and next to last year's Galaxy S25 FE, listed from $649.99, which means the new model costs $50 more than its predecessor.

The step up to the regular flagship is the Galaxy S26, which has a smaller screen but a more powerful camera and display package. Readers who want the numbers side by side can open Galaxy S26 FE vs Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S26 FE vs Galaxy A57 or Galaxy S26 FE vs Galaxy S26.

Design and display

The phone measures 161.6 x 76.9 x 7.4 mm and weighs 193 grams. The frame is aluminium alloy, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ covers the front and back, with camera lenses excluded from that description. Samsung rates the phone IP68, which means dust-tight and resistant to fresh water to 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes. Three colours are sold: Pistachio, Blueberry and Graphite. The rear camera island is a raised oval-like module with the three lenses stacked vertically, a design that echoes the S26 family.

The display is a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with an adaptive 60 to 120Hz refresh rate and a stated peak brightness of 1,900 nits. Samsung points out that the screen measures 6.7 inches only in the full rectangle and about 6.6 inches once the rounded corners are accounted for, which is a normal way of measuring. Full HD resolution on a screen this size is sharp enough for text and video, though it is below the QHD panels on the top Ultra models. Dynamic AMOLED 2X is the same panel family used on Samsung's premium phones, and Samsung lists the cheaper Galaxy A57 with a plain Super AMOLED panel instead.

Performance, memory and software

The Exynos 2500 is a 3nm chip with a ten-core CPU built around an Arm Cortex-X925 core and an AMD RDNA 3-based Xclipse 950 graphics unit, and Samsung markets it as a "flagship chipset" for this model. Memory is 8GB of RAM in the configurations listed. Storage options vary by region: the US launch lists 128GB and 256GB, while Samsung's global pages mention 512GB as well. There is no memory card slot mentioned in the published information. Samsung says the chip is designed to deliver stronger CPU, GPU and NPU performance, but the pages we reviewed give no benchmark figures, so real-world performance, thermal behaviour and sustained gaming results are still to be confirmed by independent testing.

The software side is a strength. One UI 9 on Android 17 brings the full Galaxy AI feature set, including Photo Assist, Now Brief, Now Nudge, Audio Eraser, My FanCam and Circle to Search with Google, which can now search for several items in one image. Samsung guarantees up to seven major Android upgrades and up to seven years of security updates, counted from the date of global manufacture, and the phone ships with a six-month trial of Google AI Pro. Smart Switch was reworked so that moving from an Android or iPhone is mostly a matter of scanning a QR code, and Quick Share can now exchange files with devices that support AirDrop. Seven years of updates is among the longest commitments in the Android world and is the kind of detail that favours a phone for people who keep their devices a long time.

Camera

The rear camera has three lenses. The main camera is 50MP with optical stabilisation and an f/1.8 aperture, with an 84 degree field of view. A 12MP ultrawide, f/2.2 and 123 degrees, handles landscapes and group shots. The third is an 8MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, f/2.4 and optical stabilisation; Samsung offers digital zoom up to 30x, and it says the sensor also supports sharp 2x "optical-quality" crops. The front camera is 12MP at f/2.2 with an 85 degree field of view, which Samsung says is wider than before so that more friends fit into a selfie.

Samsung's software features matter as much as the hardware here. The ProVisual Engine handles image processing, Nightography is the name for the low-light pipeline, and Super Steady video with Horizontal Lock is available on the wide and ultrawide cameras up to Full HD at 60fps with a cropped, level frame. My FanCam, first seen on recent foldables, tracks a selected person in group videos and reframes automatically. Compared with last year's S25 FE the camera hardware is essentially the same on paper, with a 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide, 8MP telephoto and 12MP front, so the gains come mainly from processing and from the newer software. The 8MP telephoto is the weakest link: it is good for moderate zoom in daylight but will not rival the larger sensors on the S26 Ultra.

Battery and charging

The battery is a 4,900 mAh cell, with a rated minimum capacity of 4,755 mAh according to Samsung's footnote. Samsung claims up to 29 hours of video playback in its lab conditions with a Bluetooth earphone connected. Wired charging is 45W and requires Samsung's own 45W charger, which is sold separately; Samsung's spec sheet mentions roughly two-thirds of a charge in around 30 minutes with that adapter, and there are slightly different percentages on different Samsung pages, so treat the figure as approximate. Wireless charging is 15W. The battery capacity is identical to the S25 FE and a little below the 5,000 mAh in the Galaxy A57, so the S26 FE is not a battery-life leader, but its slim 7.4 mm body is a trade-off for that.

Who it is for

The Galaxy S26 FE suits people who want the Galaxy S experience, including the polished camera software, the new One UI 9 and a very long update promise, but do not want to pay for a full flagship. It is a sensible upgrade for owners of Galaxy S21 FE to S23-class phones, who would gain a better camera, a faster chip and a larger battery. It is also an attractive option for iPhone switchers who like the Quick Share and AirDrop compatibility and the simpler data transfer. For a lower price, the Galaxy A57 is worth a look, while buyers who want the best camera and screen should consider the Galaxy S26 or higher.
