The Galaxy S25 FE is the most attainable member of Samsung's Galaxy S25 family. Samsung announced it on 4 September 2025 as a way to bring flagship essentials and the Galaxy AI experience to more buyers, and it made the phone available in the UK from that day. This page summarises Samsung's press release and specification table, labels statements about performance and battery as claims from Samsung and points out what the announcement leaves for you to check.
Price, storage and colours
In the UK the Galaxy S25 FE cost 649 pounds for 128 GB, 699 pounds for 256 GB and 799 pounds for 512 GB, and Samsung's US announcement gave a starting price of 649.99 dollars. It comes in Icyblue, Jetblack, Navy and White, although availability of colours varies by market and network provider. Launch offers included six months of the Google AI Pro plan and, for purchases in Samsung's online store by early October, a claimable Galaxy Watch7 worth 239 pounds plus a guaranteed 100 pounds off when trading in any smartphone. These promotions were time-limited. All three storage options pair with 8 GB of memory, according to the specification table.
Design and display
The phone follows the signature design of the S25 series, with a slim and light build measuring 76.6 by 161.3 by 7.4 millimetres and weighing 190 grams. Samsung describes a new, enhanced Armor Aluminum frame that improves durability and gives a more refined finish, and the phone has IP68 protection, tested for submersion in up to 1.5 metres of fresh water for 30 minutes under lab conditions. The display is a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen at FHD+ resolution with a 60 to 120 Hz refresh rate. Samsung notes that the measured diagonal is 6.5 inches once the rounded corners are considered, and that Vision Booster helps outdoor visibility.
Exynos 2400 and battery
The chip is the Exynos 2400, a 4 nm processor, and the phone runs Android 16 with One UI 8. Samsung says a vapour chamber that is more than 10 percent larger than on the Galaxy S24 FE helps manage heat during AI processing. The battery is 4,900 mAh typical, with a rated minimum of 4,755 mAh, compared with 4,700 mAh in the previous FE. Wired charging supports up to 65 percent in around 30 minutes with a 45W adapter that is sold separately, up from 25W on the predecessor, and there is fast wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare. Samsung's all-day battery claim is based on a UX Connect Research usage profile, not a fixed number of hours, so treat it as a rough guide.
Camera system
The rear system has three cameras: a 50MP wide camera with optical image stabilization at f/1.8, a 12MP ultra-wide camera with a 123-degree field of view and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and stabilization at f/2.4. The specification table gives fields of view of 123, 84 and 32 degrees for the ultra-wide, wide and telephoto cameras and 80 degrees for the front camera. The front camera is 12MP, upgraded from the 10MP unit of the Galaxy S24 FE, and Samsung says the ProVisual Engine and a low-noise selfie mode improve clarity. Night shots benefit from Nightography low noise mode and Super HDR video. Photo Assist tools include Generative Edit, which detects passers-by and proactively suggests removing them and filling the background, and Portrait Studio, which creates personalised avatars. Instant Slow-mo turns any clip into slow motion with one tap, Audio Eraser isolates voices, music, wind, nature, crowd and background noise so you can reduce or remove them, and Auto Trim picks the best moments from your footage. Samsung notes that AI features may need a Samsung account and a network connection, and that accuracy is not guaranteed.
Galaxy AI, Gemini and privacy
With One UI 8, Samsung frames the phone as a personalised AI companion. Gemini Live enables real-time visual conversations, so you can point the camera at two outfits and ask which suits the weather in Seoul. Now Bar shows updates on the lock screen and can be customised for notifications, music, modes and routines, while Now Brief gives daily updates on traffic, reminders, calendar events and fitness summaries. Circle to Search with Google can show gaming tips in a floating view without interrupting play. To protect all this, Samsung introduces Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection, which creates encrypted app-specific storage inside the secure storage area, so that each app can access only its own sensitive information, and supports the Personal Data Engine that keeps user data and preferences on the device, secured by Knox Vault.
Software support and accessories
Samsung promises seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from the global launch date. That is a long commitment for a mid-priced phone and one of the reasons the FE line is attractive to buyers who keep phones for many years, although timing of updates may vary by model, network provider and market. Samsung also announced the Galaxy Buds3 FE earbuds as a companion and said One UI 8 would come to more devices, including the full Galaxy S25 series, from the same month.
What the release does not say
Several of Samsung's comparisons in this announcement are made against the Galaxy S24 FE, such as the larger vapour chamber, the front camera upgrade and the faster wired charging, and Samsung's footnotes make clear that these comparisons are between its own two models. The release gives no peak display brightness, no speaker details, no video recording specifications and no independent battery figures. It also says that the availability of storage options and colours depends on carrier, country and region, and that available storage is reduced by pre-installed software. For a buyer, the practical steps are to check the exact configuration on sale locally, read independent camera and battery tests and compare the price with older Galaxy models that may be discounted.
Who it suits
The S25 FE is a fit for people who want the look and much of the software of a current Galaxy flagship, a triple camera with a real telephoto lens and long support without paying flagship money. It will be less appealing if you want the very slim body of the Galaxy S25 Edge or the top-end specification of the Ultra. Next to the regular Galaxy S25, the Galaxy S25 FE vs Galaxy S25 table shows where the two differ. Cheaper rivals include Google's Pixel 9a and Apple's iPhone 16e, and you can browse all models in the phones section.
