The Galaxy S25 Edge is Samsung's answer to a simple question: how thin can an S series flagship be without giving up the camera and the chip? Samsung revealed the full specifications on 13 May 2025 and calls the result its slimmest S series device yet, at just 5.8 mm thick and 163 grams. Pre-orders opened that day and the phone reached stores, operators and Samsung's online store on 30 May 2025. This page draws on Samsung's UK and European press releases and its specification table. We keep performance statements labelled as Samsung claims and note what the announcement does not cover.
Price, colours and availability
In the UK, Samsung listed the Galaxy S25 Edge at 1,099 pounds for the 256 GB model and 1,199 pounds for the 512 GB model, in three colours: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jetblack and Titanium Icyblue. Customers who pre-ordered from selected retailers could double their storage for the same price, meaning the 512 GB model at the 256 GB price. Samsung also launched a New Galaxy Club upgrade programme with the phone, offering 0 percent finance over 24 months with a 10 percent deposit, a guaranteed 50 percent return value when upgrading between months 12 and 15, two years of Samsung Care+ accidental damage cover and vouchers, with the first 2,500 members receiving a 100-pound Klarna voucher. These offers were UK-specific and time-limited, so they no longer describe today's prices. A Galaxy Tab A9+ worth 259 pounds could also be claimed with a purchase from a participating retailer during the launch window.
A titanium body only 5.8 mm thick
The headline is the body: 75.6 by 158.2 by 5.8 millimetres and 163 grams. Samsung says the sturdy titanium frame and optimally curved edges give enduring protection for everyday use, and that the front display uses Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, a new glass ceramic that delivers engineered resilience. The phone is rated IP68 for water and dust under laboratory conditions, with immersion in up to 1.5 metres of fresh water for 30 minutes, and Samsung notes that the protection is not permanent. As always, a thin body raises the question of durability, and only long-term testing can answer it. Samsung does not publish a bend test or drop test result in the release, so treat the strength language as marketing until independent tests confirm it.
Display and processor
The screen is a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a variable 1 to 120 Hz refresh rate, and Samsung notes that the measured diagonal is 6.5 inches when the rounded corners are taken into account. The display has Vision Booster, which Samsung calls Adaptive Vision Booster, for visibility outdoors. Inside is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, the same customised Qualcomm processor used in all Galaxy S25 series devices globally, with 12 GB of memory. Samsung says a reconfigured vapor chamber, now thinner yet broader, dissipates heat steadily during sustained use, and that a ProScaler feature improves display image scaling quality by 43 percent compared with the Galaxy S24 series, based on a signal-to-noise test. The phone runs Android 15 with One UI 7 and supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
A 200MP camera in a slim body
Despite the slim form, the main camera is a 200MP wide lens with optical image stabilization at f/1.7 and what Samsung calls 2x optical quality zoom. Because of the high resolution and the large pixel size, Samsung claims over 44 percent improved brightness in low-light environments compared with a reference device, which is a laboratory claim to be checked in real photos. A 12MP ultra-wide camera has autofocus, which enables macro photography, and the front camera is 12MP. The phone uses the same ProVisual Engine as the Galaxy S25 for sharper detail in fabrics and plants and natural skin tones in portraits, and Galaxy AI editing features such as Audio Eraser and Drawing Assist come from the S25 series. Samsung does not list a telephoto lens in the release, so any zoom beyond 2x relies on the 200MP sensor and software.
Battery and charging
A phone this thin has limited room for battery, and Samsung lists a 3,900 mAh typical capacity with a rated minimum of 3,786 mAh. Wired charging reaches up to 55 percent in about 30 minutes with a 25W adapter that is sold separately, and fast wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare are supported. Samsung says the phone offers massive all-day battery life, based on an internal usage profile assessed by UX Connect Research, but does not publish hours of video playback. Anyone who charges rarely or uses the camera heavily should look at independent battery tests before buying.
Galaxy AI and privacy
Samsung integrates Galaxy AI at nearly every touchpoint. AI agents work across several apps, and Now Brief and Now Bar now include third-party integrations for reminders while commuting or dining. With Gemini Live's new camera and screen sharing, you can show what you see on screen or in the world while talking to the assistant. Samsung says on-device AI processing is protected by Samsung Knox Vault. Some features need a Samsung account or an internet connection, and Samsung's footnotes say results are not guaranteed to be accurate.
Samsung's pitch: slim without compromise
Ahead of the reveal, Samsung's global newsroom argued that expectations for smartphones have grown in two directions at once: people want peak performance and mobile AI, but they also want devices that are portable and lightweight. It described the S25 Edge as more than a slim smartphone, saying that every curve, contour and component reflects precise engineering. At the UK announcement, Annika Bizon, Mobile Experience VP of Product and Marketing for Samsung UK and Ireland, called it the slimmest S series device yet, created with style and strength in mind. That is the case Samsung makes. Whether a 5.8 mm phone is the right trade for you depends on how you weigh pocketability against battery capacity and the flexibility of a longer lens line-up, and that is a personal choice rather than a fact the press release can settle.
How it compares
The S25 Edge sits alongside the regular Galaxy S25 and the larger Galaxy S25 Ultra, sharing the chip and the camera engine with the wider S25 series. Its clearest rival in the ultra-slim category is Apple's iPhone Air, and the Galaxy S25 Edge vs iPhone Air table sets them side by side. For a cheaper Samsung option later in the year, the Galaxy S25 FE is described on its own page, and every model we cover is in the phones section.
