The Samsung Galaxy A37 5G is the upper-middle model of Samsung's 2026 A series. It sits between the entry-level Galaxy A27 5G and the top-of-the-range Galaxy A57 5G, and it brings a 6.7-inch 120Hz Super AMOLED display, an Exynos 1480 processor, a triple camera led by a 50MP stabilised main sensor, IP68 protection and up to 45W wired charging. This page is based on the published specifications and manufacturer information from Samsung's US product and support pages, supplemented by Samsung's UK specification sheet for dimensions and weight, and it marks Samsung's claims as claims.
Place in the lineup
The 2026 A series has four 5G models that Samsung compares on one support page: the Galaxy A17 5G, A27 5G, A37 5G and A57 5G. The A37 is the third rung. Compared with the Galaxy A27 5G it has a better ultrawide camera (8MP instead of 5MP), a bigger macro lens (5MP instead of 2MP), faster wired charging (45W instead of 25W), IP68 instead of a lower rating, and a memory option of up to 8GB. The step up to the Galaxy A57 5G brings a 12MP ultrawide camera and Samsung's Super AMOLED Plus panel, while the A37 keeps a standard Super AMOLED screen. A direct Galaxy A37 vs. Galaxy A57 table shows where the two differ, and the previous generation lives on in the Galaxy A56.
The US page lists two storage options, 128GB with 6GB of RAM and 256GB with 8GB, and the US shop page shows list prices of $489.99 and $609.99 respectively for the unlocked models. That price comes from the current Samsung US listing and it may differ from the price at launch, which the pages do not state. The launch date used here (25 March 2026) is the date given in the editorial plan for this entry, as Samsung's US pages do not print a date; treat it as approximate.
Design and display
Samsung describes the A37 as slim and sleek, with a glossy glass back and a glazed ceramic frame, and says that the camera area, which it calls the "Ambient Island", is designed to look as good as the photos it takes. The body measures 162.9 x 78.2 x 7.4 mm and weighs 196 g according to Samsung's UK specification sheet, which makes it a fairly light and slim phone for a 6.7-inch model. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ is used on the front and the back, although Samsung notes that the camera glass and the side keys are not covered. The phone is rated IP68, which Samsung explains as submersion in up to 1.5 metres of fresh water for up to 30 minutes in laboratory conditions; as always, it adds that this protection is not permanent and can fade with wear. US colours are Awesome Lavender and Awesome Charcoal, and the UK page also lists Awesome Graygreen and Awesome White, so the range of colours depends on the market.
The screen is a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel in an Infinity-O design, with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz according to Samsung's US support page. A feature called Vision Booster raises contrast and visibility in bright surroundings. Samsung does not publish a peak brightness figure on the pages used here, so there is no brightness number to compare with rivals. Slim bezels and a punch-hole front camera complete the front, and the sensor list on the specification sheet includes a fingerprint sensor, although the pages used here do not say where it sits or which type it is.
Performance and software
Samsung names the Exynos 1480 as the processor and says it delivers CPU and GPU improvements of up to 12 percent and 19 percent compared with the previous model. The UK sheet lists an octa-core design with clock speeds of 2.75GHz and 2GHz. Samsung states that the phone uses LPDDR5X memory, and a vapor chamber is meant to keep the phone cool during demanding games. There is no microSD slot: Samsung states that the A57 and A37 do not support external memory cards, so the choice between 128GB and 256GB matters.
The software is One UI 8.5, and Samsung promises 6 OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates, which is a long support period for a phone in this class. The Android version is not given on the pages used here, so it is not listed in the specifications. Samsung's "Awesome Intelligence" bundle brings Circle to Search with Google, Gemini, Object Eraser, Edit Suggestion, My Filter and an AI Select tool in the Edge panel; availability and some results depend on region and Samsung account login. Samsung Knox Vault, certified to EAL5+, protects sensitive data, and Quick Share and Smart Switch handle file sharing and moving data from an old phone, including from iOS. In terms of connectivity the UK sheet lists Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.3 and USB-C with USB 2.0 speeds, while other regional pages differ in minor details.
Camera
The rear camera has three lenses: a 50MP wide-angle main camera with optical image stabilisation and an f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP ultrawide camera at f/2.2 and a 5MP macro camera at f/2.4. Samsung says the main camera uses 1.0 micrometre pixels and an improved image signal processor for what it calls Optimized Nightography, which is meant to give brighter video in low light. Digital zoom is offered up to 10x, there is no optical telephoto lens, and video recording reaches 4K at 30 frames per second, with slow motion at 240fps in HD. The front camera is a 12MP unit at f/2.2 without autofocus, and it supports Super HDR video for selfies.
A 5MP macro lens adds little real image quality, as such sensors usually serve for close-ups in good light, and many buyers would prefer an optical zoom lens instead. Still, the main sensor with OIS is the part that decides everyday picture quality, and the 50MP resolution is available on that camera only, as Samsung's footnotes clarify. Samsung also notes that results vary with shooting conditions, and it provides no independent test figures, so the camera should be judged from independent reviews once those are available.
Battery and charging
The battery has a typical capacity of 5,000 mAh. Samsung's UK sheet quotes up to 29 hours of video playback, and the US page says "Super Fast Charging 2.0" can bring the phone to 60 percent in 30 minutes, while the support page lists wired charging of up to 45W. Wireless charging and PowerShare are not supported, according to Samsung's support page. The box contains a USB-C cable, an ejection pin and a quick start guide; there is no charger, which is common for Samsung phones, so a 45W-capable adapter has to be bought separately to reach the top charging speed. The 60 percent in 30 minutes figure is Samsung's claim and depends on the charger and conditions.
Who it is for
The Galaxy A37 5G fits people who want a dependable mid-range Samsung phone with a smooth 120Hz screen, water protection and a very long update promise, and who do not need the best camera or the fastest chip. It is a sensible choice for families, for first-time smartphone owners and for users who plan to keep a phone for five or six years. The long support period is the most unusual argument for the model, as few rivals in this segment promise as many updates.
Compromises
- There is no optical zoom, and the 5MP macro camera is of limited use.
- Wireless charging is missing, and no charger is included in the box.
- The display is a standard Super AMOLED panel; Samsung publishes no peak brightness, and the A57 offers a better Plus panel.
- There is no microSD slot, and the US base model with 128GB has only 6GB of RAM.
- The processor is an Exynos 1480, which Samsung positions as an upgrade over the previous model but which is not a flagship chip.
