The Samsung Galaxy A27 5G is the newest entry-level member of Samsung's Galaxy A family. Samsung announced it on June 25, 2026 and said it would be available from July 3 in select markets. It follows the Galaxy A26 5G and keeps the formula that has made the A series popular: a large Super AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a mid-range Snapdragon processor, a 5,000 mAh battery and a long software-support promise. This page is based on the published specifications and manufacturer information. It explains where the phone sits in Samsung's range, what the hardware offers, how the camera and software work, and the trade-offs of its price class.
Place in the lineup
Samsung describes the Galaxy A27 5G as a device that refines everyday use for more users, with an immersive display, reliable performance and integrated AI features. In the United States the phone is listed on Samsung.com at $379.99 for the 128GB unlocked model; Samsung's page shows promotional pricing below that figure, so the price you pay may differ. Samsung says memory and storage options and availability vary by country, region and carrier. It offers 6GB or 8GB of RAM with 128GB, and 8GB with 256GB, plus a microSD slot for up to 2 TB of extra storage.
The phone sits below the Galaxy A57 and the previous Galaxy A56 in Samsung's lineup and well below the S-series flagships such as the Galaxy S26. To see the specification differences against the older mid-range model, use the Galaxy A27 vs Galaxy A56 comparison, and the rankings page shows how it scores overall.
Design and build
The phone measures 162.4 x 78.2 x 7.8 mm and weighs 200 g. Samsung stresses the slim 7.8 mm profile and the glossy glass finish. The front and rear use Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+, according to Samsung's footnotes, although the camera glass, side keys and SIM tray are not covered by that claim. The phone is rated IP64, which Samsung describes as resistance to dust and to water sprayed from all angles for five minutes at 10 liters per minute. IP64 is a lower level of protection than the IP68 rating that Samsung's flagships carry, and Samsung itself recommends against use at the beach or pool.
Four colors are announced: Black, Blue, Light Green and Light Pink. The screen has a new Infinity-O design with a smaller punch-hole camera cutout and a slimmer, more balanced bezel than the previous model, which Samsung says adds screen space.
Display
The display is a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Samsung notes that the 6.7-inch measurement covers the full rectangle and that the viewable area is 6.5 inches when the rounded corners are taken into account. The company also mentions Vision Booster, a feature that adjusts the screen so it stays clear in bright light, and an Eye Care certification from SGS for blue-light reduction. Samsung does not give a peak brightness figure on its product pages, so outdoor visibility is best judged against competing phones in person. AMOLED panels in this class generally offer strong contrast, and a 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling feel smoother than the 60Hz displays still common at lower prices.
Performance and software
The processor is the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, a 4nm octa-core chip with four cores at up to 2.4GHz and four at up to 1.8GHz. Samsung says it brings better GPU performance than the previous generation and faster memory for better efficiency. This is a mid-range chip intended for social media, streaming, browsing and light gaming; it is not designed for demanding 3D games at the highest settings, and heavy multitasking may feel slower than on an S-series phone.
The phone runs Android 16 with One UI 8.5, according to Samsung's specification table. Samsung promises up to six generations of Android and One UI upgrades and up to six years of security updates, counted from the initial global launch date. That update pledge is a major strength in this price range, because many rivals offer two to four years of support. Samsung Knox Vault provides hardware-backed protection for sensitive data, and Samsung describes the Knox Vault in this model as differing from the version on its flagships.
On the AI side, Samsung brings what it calls Awesome Intelligence: Circle to Search with Google now recognizes multiple objects in a single image, Object Eraser removes unwanted objects with more natural fills, and Voice Recorder transcription can translate as it transcribes into 22 languages. Samsung also says the phone supports a choice of AI assistants including Gemini, Perplexity and Bixby, and that some AI features require a Samsung account login. Features can vary by country and language.
Camera
The rear system has three cameras: a 50MP wide-angle camera with optical image stabilization, a 5MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro camera. In practice the 50MP main sensor does the heavy lifting, and the 2MP macro camera is mostly a spec-sheet addition with limited use. Samsung notes that 50MP resolution is available on the main camera only. The ultrawide camera adds a wider field of view for group shots and landscapes, but at 5MP its detail is modest.
The front camera is a 12MP unit with an f/2.0 aperture and 1.12µm pixels. Samsung says it brings improved HDR and a wider range of brightness and richer colors for selfies in difficult lighting. Samsung does not list video resolution on its product pages, and no telephoto camera is included.
Battery and charging
The battery is rated at 5,000 mAh typical, with a rated minimum capacity of 4,860 mAh. Samsung states up to 23 hours of video playback, a figure obtained under third-party laboratory conditions that real-world use may not match. Wired charging is listed at 25W in Samsung's specification table, and the US product page says charging reaches up to 45 percent in 30 minutes. Samsung does not mention wireless charging, and the charger is typically sold separately in many markets. A 25W rate is modest next to the faster charging offered by some competitors.
Who it is for
The Galaxy A27 5G is aimed at first-time smartphone owners, students, social-media users and budget-conscious buyers who want a large, smooth display and long-term software support. It suits people who value updates and a well-known brand over peak performance. The microSD slot makes it a good choice for those who store many photos and videos.
Compromises
- Mid-range chip: the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 is fine for daily tasks but not for the most demanding games.
- IP64 only: it resists splashes and dust but is not designed for submersion.
- Basic camera set: the 2MP macro and 5MP ultrawide are limited, and there is no telephoto lens.
- 25W charging: slower than rival phones with high-wattage chargers.
- Price and availability vary: the $379.99 US listing applies to the 128GB model, and options differ by market and carrier.
- AI features depend on region: some functions need a Samsung account and are not available in every language.
Those who want a better camera setup and more power should look at the Galaxy A57; those who want the longest support at a low price will find the Galaxy A27 5G an easy fit.
