The vivo X100 Pro is the camera-first flagship of vivo's X100 generation, and the company built almost its entire pitch around one component: a ZEISS-branded telephoto lens that vivo calls the first APO-certified telephoto camera in a phone. Around it sit a 50-megapixel main sensor of about one-inch class, MediaTek's Dimensity 9300 processor paired with a second chip dedicated to imaging, a large dual-cell battery and wireless charging. This page is based on the published specifications and manufacturer information from vivo's India product and specification pages, and it treats the company's superlatives as claims, not as measured facts.

Position in the X series

The Pro is the larger, better-equipped sibling of the vivo X100. The two share the same 6.78-inch screen resolution and the same Dimensity 9300 chip, but the Pro uses a different main sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto instead of a 64-megapixel periscope unit, a larger battery and a listed wireless charging option. It also carries vivo's V3 imaging chip, where the standard model uses the earlier V2. Later flagships followed in the same pattern; see the vivo X200 Pro for the generation after this one, and the X100 Pro vs X200 Pro comparison for a side-by-side view.

Design and build

vivo describes the look as a Sun Halo design: a large circular camera ring on the back, with a sunburst texture and a mirror-finished frame that the company says is aerospace-grade stainless steel. The glass lens covering the camera is integrally cut with a 2.5D rounded shape and uses Corning Gorilla Glass. The phone measures 164.05 x 75.28 x 8.91 mm and weighs 225 g, with a glass back, so it is a heavy phone, and the circular camera island is large. The India page shows it in Asteroid Black. It has an IP68 rating for splash, water and dust resistance, and vivo's footnote gives the test conditions as static fresh water at up to 1.5 metres for up to 30 minutes, with the usual warning that the resistance is not permanent and that liquid damage is not covered by the warranty.

Display

The screen is a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2800 x 1260 and about 452 pixels per inch. vivo quotes a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, a local peak brightness of 3,000 nits, 100 percent DCI-P3 coverage, 2,160 Hz PWM dimming and 8T LTPO backplane technology, which allows the refresh rate to change in fine steps to save power. Eye-comfort certifications from SGS for low blue light and low flicker are listed. The peak brightness figure is a local peak from vivo's laboratory, so treat it as a best case rather than a full-screen number. An in-display optical fingerprint sensor handles unlocking.

Camera: the reason this phone exists

The rear system has three 50-megapixel cameras. The main camera uses a Sony IMX989 sensor of 1/0.98 inch with an f/1.75 aperture, optical stabilisation and a lens made from one glass and seven plastic elements; vivo calls it the ZEISS camera with the largest sensor, which is a manufacturer claim. The ultrawide camera is a 50-megapixel 1/2.76-inch unit at f/2.0. The telephoto is a 50-megapixel 1/2-inch camera at f/2.5 with a floating-element design and optical stabilisation, and vivo lists 100x digital zoom. The company says the telephoto is ZEISS APO certified, which it explains as a design that sharply reduces chromatic aberration, the colour fringing that appears at high-contrast edges.

On top of the hardware, vivo lists several camera modes. Telephoto Sunshot is meant for sunrises and sunsets, and vivo advises shooting the sun at those times only and avoiding long exposure to the midday sun. A multifocal portrait mode offers 24, 35, 50, 85 and 100 mm looks with ZEISS-style bokeh. The 4K cinematic portrait video mode uses a 2.39:1 frame and five preset styles, and a handheld astro mode adds an augmented-reality star map. The front camera is 32 megapixels at f/2.0. Because the page does not state the optical zoom factor of the telephoto, this article does not quote one. Judged by the specification, the telephoto and the main sensor are the strongest cards in the hand.

Performance and the second chip

The processor is the MediaTek Dimensity 9300, a 4 nm chip with an all-big-core CPU design: one core at 3.25 GHz, three at 2.85 GHz and four at 2.0 GHz. The phone is sold in a 16 GB RAM and 512 GB storage configuration on the India page, with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 4.0 storage. vivo adds a 16 GB extended RAM feature that is realised in software, so it uses part of the storage and should not be confused with physical memory. vivo cites an AnTuTu score above 2.21 million from its own lab, which is a laboratory figure for the 16 GB version.

The second processor is the vivo V3, a 6 nm chip that handles imaging tasks such as cinematic portrait video and also supports game features like super resolution and frame interpolation. The pairing is why vivo uses the phrase dual flagship chips. The software is Funtouch OS 14 on Android 14, with the usual set of memory management tools such as RAM Saver and App Retainer, which vivo says applies only to a whitelist of apps.

Battery and charging

vivo uses a dual-cell battery in series with a typical capacity of 2,700 mAh at 7.78 V, which it expresses as an equivalent 5,400 mAh at 3.89 V (the rated capacity is 5,260 mAh equivalent). Wired charging is 100W FlashCharge, and wireless charging reaches 50W, but only with vivo's separate 50W Vertical Wireless Flash Charger 2, which is sold separately. The company says it takes about 14 minutes to reach 50 percent on a flat battery under laboratory conditions, and claims a four-year battery life that retains at least 80 percent capacity after 1,600 full cycles. These are manufacturer figures, but together they describe a phone that is well covered for fast and wireless charging.

Connectivity

The phone supports dual SIM (two nano SIMs, or one nano SIM and an eSIM), a wide set of 5G bands, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, USB-C with USB 3.2 Gen 1 speeds, an infrared blaster and multi-system satellite positioning. The India page also lists SAR values under the Indian limit of 1.6 W/kg for the head and body.

Who it is for

The X100 Pro is for people who treat the camera as the main feature and are willing to carry a heavy, large phone to get it: travellers, event photographers, anyone who likes telephoto portraits and distant subjects. It also suits buyers who want wireless charging and a premium metal frame without moving to a foldable. If you want a smaller and lighter phone with a similar processor, the standard X100 is the closer choice. If you prefer a more conventional Android flagship, look at Samsung's Galaxy S25 Ultra and compare it with the X100 Pro vs Galaxy S25 Ultra page.

Compromises to weigh

In short, the X100 Pro is a specialist flagship that puts its money on optics, and the phone rankings show how that bet compares with the rest of the market.
