The HONOR Magic6 Pro was HONOR's 2024 global flagship, and it stakes its case on three things: a 180MP periscope telephoto camera, a quad-curved 6.8-inch LTPO OLED display, and a 5,600 mAh silicon-carbon battery that charges at 80W by cable and 66W wirelessly. Everything runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip with, in the configuration listed on HONOR's UK specification page, 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. This page is based on the published specifications and manufacturer information. It explains what the numbers mean in practice, which claims are HONOR's own laboratory figures, and what you give up compared with newer phones.

Where it sits in the Magic family

HONOR uses the Magic name for its top phones, and the Pro is the highest model of the Magic6 generation on the pages reviewed here. It has since been followed by the Magic7 Pro and the Magic8 Pro, so it is now a previous-generation flagship; HONOR's own page is still online and still lists the full specification. Foldable buyers are served by a different line, such as the Magic V3, while the numbered series, for example the HONOR 200 Pro, targets a lower price band. A direct look at what the next generation changed is available in the Magic6 Pro vs Magic7 Pro comparison.

HONOR's page does not print a launch price or an on-sale date, so the date given for this model is the date of its global introduction and no US price is listed.

Display and build

HONOR calls the screen a Quad-Curved Floating Screen: the OLED panel bends on all four edges, which makes the front look borderless and gives the phone a rounded feel in the hand. The size is 6.8 inches measured as a standard rectangle, the resolution is 1280 x 2800 pixels (453 ppi) and the refresh rate adapts between 1Hz and 120Hz through LTPO technology. The brightness claims are unusually specific. HONOR quotes 5000 nits as an HDR peak and 1600 nits for the all-screen peak, both measured in its laboratory. Treat both as maxima for small highlights rather than the brightness you will see with a full white screen outdoors. Low-brightness flicker is addressed with 4320Hz PWM dimming, and TUV Rheinland certificates are listed for eye comfort. The colour depth is 1.07 billion colours.

The body measures 162.5 x 75.8 x 8.9 mm. The weight depends on the back material: about 225 g for the PU back and about 229 g for the glass back. The front uses HONOR NanoCrystal Shield glass, which HONOR says is ten times more drop-resistant than ordinary glass in its own lab comparison and which carries an SGS five-star certification for glass drop resistance in several scenarios. IP68 is listed for dust and water resistance, tested under laboratory conditions; HONOR cautions that the protection is not permanent and that liquid damage is not covered by warranty. Two colours appear on the page: Epi Green and Black, and the cushion-shaped camera island with its dome-like lens frame is the visual signature.

Performance and software

The chip is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with an octa-core layout (one Cortex-X4 at 3.3GHz, five Cortex-A720 cores and two Cortex-A520 cores) and an Adreno 750 graphics unit. HONOR also fits three of its own support chips: the C1+ RF enhancement chip for radio performance, the S1 discrete security chip with dual trusted environments, and the E1 power chip that manages battery behaviour. HONOR describes an ultra-wide-area cooling system for sustained gaming. The software is MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14, and the page highlights features such as an intent-based Magic Portal for moving content between apps, an always-on display that shows messages and calls, and an AI Privacy Call mode that lowers sound leakage from the earpiece. Because the software description dates from launch, the page does not state how many update years HONOR commits to, so that cannot be compared on paper.

Connectivity is up to date: Wi-Fi 7 (with a Wi-Fi 7 router), Bluetooth 5.3 with LDAC, aptX and aptX HD, NFC, eSIM on the second SIM position, an infrared remote control and USB Type-C. Stereo speakers are listed with DTS:X Ultra effects. Note that there is no headphone socket; the Earjack field on the page refers to USB Type-C audio.

Camera system

The camera hardware is the main reason to look at this phone. The main camera is 50MP with a large 1/1.3-inch sensor and an aperture that adjusts between f/1.4 and f/2.0, with optical stabilisation. The ultrawide is another 50MP unit with a 122-degree field of view, f/2.0 and a macro mode focusing down to 2.5cm. The telephoto is the headline: 180MP on a 1/1.49-inch sensor, f/2.6, with 2.5x optical zoom, optical stabilisation and up to 100x digital zoom. HONOR notes that the 180MP resolution is reached in a dedicated High-Res mode and that normal shooting uses lower-resolution output. A 2.5x optical reach is modest next to some rivals with 5x periscopes, but the large sensor is meant to preserve detail in cropped, digitally extended shots.

At the front there is a 50MP camera with f/2.0 and autofocus, plus a 3D depth camera that enables secure 3D face unlock; a fingerprint sensor is also listed. Video goes up to 4K at 60fps on the rear camera, with the combined electronic and optical stabilisation. HONOR adds its AI Motion Sensing Capture, which takes sports shots automatically based on 10 sport categories, and three image tones (Natural, Vibrant and Authentic). As with any phone, the final picture quality depends on HONOR's processing, which cannot be judged from the numbers alone.

Battery and charging

The typical battery capacity is 5,600 mAh, with 5,500 mAh as the rated value, and it uses HONOR's silicon-carbon chemistry, which packs more energy into the same volume than conventional lithium-ion cells. Wired charging reaches 80W with the original SuperCharge charger and wireless charging reaches 66W, though the charger and the wireless base are sold separately according to the page. Charging speed adapts to the situation. HONOR does not give a minutes-to-full figure on the page reviewed, so none is quoted here.

Who it is for

The Magic6 Pro suits photographers who want a long-focus camera with an unusually high-resolution sensor, readers and video watchers who value a bright curved OLED, and anyone who wants a big battery with fast wireless charging in a flagship. It is also an option for buyers who prefer a slightly softer, more conventional look than camera-island designs from other makers.

Compromises

The HONOR Magic6 Pro remains an interesting spec sheet for a previous-generation flagship: its camera sensors, battery and screen are all still competitive in design, though its age and unclear update commitment weigh on the decision. See the rankings to compare it with current phones.
