The HONOR 400 Pro is the camera-and-battery flagship of HONOR's 400 family: a 6.7-inch quad-curved display, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, a 200MP main camera with a 3x telephoto partner, and a 5,300 mAh silicon-carbon battery with 100W wired charging. This article reads the information HONOR publishes on its own product page. It keeps manufacturer claims labelled as claims, points out where the page is silent, and explains what kind of buyer the phone suits.
Place in the HONOR range
HONOR launched the 400 series in May 2025 with the 400 Pro at the top, and the family also contains less expensive models such as the HONOR 400 Smart. The Pro is the model that carries the 200MP main sensor, the telephoto lens, the Snapdragon 8-series chip and the fastest charging in the family. Later releases moved the brand's top tier on: the HONOR Magic8 Pro uses a newer Snapdragon chip and a bigger battery, and the HONOR 600 Pro continues the number series. The 400 Pro is therefore a previous-generation flagship, which can make it interesting for people who value its balance more than the latest silicon. A side-by-side view against its newer sibling is available at HONOR 400 Pro vs HONOR Magic8 Pro.
Design and display
The phone is 8.1 mm thick and weighs 205 g, which is slim given the battery capacity. The back carries a rounded camera island with three lenses, and the front screen curves on all four edges. HONOR describes this as a quad-curved display with equal depth on each side, a shape that makes the phone look thin in the hand but can produce edge reflections. Colours listed on the page are Lunar Grey, Tidal Blue and Midnight Black, although the FAQ section of the same page names Titanium Grey and Midnight Black, so the exact colour names probably vary by region.
The screen measures 6.7 inches with a resolution of 2800 x 1280 pixels, around 460 pixels per inch, and a 120 Hz refresh rate. HONOR quotes a peak HDR brightness of 5,000 nits, which it says comes from its own laboratory and applies in certain situations only. Other listed features include a DCI-P3 wide colour gamut, 1.07 billion colours, 3,840 Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort, a minimum brightness of 1.5 nits and HDR certification from Netflix and Amazon. The front camera sits in a pill-shaped cut-out in the top of the glass.
Durability claims are strong for the class: IP68 and IP69 water and dust ratings and an SGS five-star drop and crush certification. As HONOR itself notes, the phone is not professionally waterproof and is tested under controlled laboratory conditions, so these ratings are not a licence to ignore warranty terms.
Performance and software
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is a flagship Qualcomm chip from the previous chip generation, and the HONOR page also mentions its own GPU Turbo X graphics software. The phone is offered with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage on the page, with a note that usable storage is lower because of system software. It runs the company's MagicOS interface, and the page emphasises AI tools, but it does not state the Android or MagicOS version for this phone, so check the version at purchase. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7, NFC, stereo speakers and an infrared remote function.
The AI list is long. HONOR names an AI image-to-video tool (a paid feature), reflection removal, passer-by erasing, upscaling, outpainting, a closed-eyes correction for group photos and a motion-sickness relief mode for vehicles. Whether you will use these is a matter of taste, and several rely on cloud processing that can change over time. Cross-platform data migration from iOS, HarmonyOS and other Android phones is supported through a device clone tool.
Camera system
The main camera is a 200MP sensor with a 1/1.4-inch format, and both optical and electronic stabilisation. A 50MP telephoto camera built around the Sony IMX856 sensor offers 3x optical zoom with optical stabilisation, and HONOR advertises a "super zoom" range from 15x to 50x that depends on an enhancement model with 12.4 billion parameters, which is a processing claim rather than optics. The third lens is a 12MP ultrawide with a 112-degree field of view. For selfies there is a 50MP camera at f/2.0.
The 200MP resolution is mainly useful for cropping and for the 135 mm-equivalent portrait framing HONOR promotes. HONOR's footnotes say that the 200MP and 50MP figures are sensor pixel counts, that the actual photo resolution varies by shooting mode, and that the full-resolution output requires entering the High-Res mode. In practice, the ultrawide is the weakest part, at 12MP, and the telephoto is the most interesting. The AI portrait modes, film-simulation portrait style and a moving-photo format for social sharing are software layers that depend on tuning. Because we have only specification material to work from, camera quality should be checked in independent reviews.
Battery and charging
The battery is a silicon-carbon cell with a typical capacity of 5,300 mAh and a rated capacity of 5,170 mAh. HONOR says its laboratory simulations indicate more than 80 percent capacity retention after four years. Wired charging is 100W, with 51 percent claimed after 15 minutes, and wireless charging is 50W, with 36 percent claimed in 15 minutes, which requires a separate HONOR wireless charger. The page does not say whether a charger is in the box, so verify the contents for your market. Silicon-carbon cells let a phone this thin carry a capacity that was unusual a few years ago.
Who should buy it
- Camera-focused buyers who like a long lens and large sensor, and who value 3x optical zoom more than raw megapixels.
- People who want fast charging and wireless charging in the same phone.
- Buyers who prefer slim, curved screens and a premium shape at 8.1 mm.
- Shoppers looking for a former flagship, since a previous-generation model can be easier to find at a lower price once newer ones exist.
Compromises
The quad-curved glass is attractive but invites accidental touches and reflections, and it makes screen protectors harder to fit. The ultrawide camera is modest, and the 200MP headline resolution depends on a special mode. The software version is not disclosed on the product page, and several AI tools are paid or cloud-based. Wireless charging needs an accessory that is sold separately. As with all manufacturer claims here, the 5,000-nit figure, battery retention and charging speeds come from HONOR's own tests and will differ in daily use.
Summary
On paper, the HONOR 400 Pro is a well-rounded flagship from the previous cycle: a bright 120 Hz curved display, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a 200MP main camera with a real telephoto, a large silicon-carbon battery and fast wired and wireless charging, all in a 205 g body. It rewards buyers who want photography and endurance rather than the newest chip. To see how it compares with other models, visit the phone rankings.
