The Galaxy S25+ sits in the middle of Samsung's Galaxy S25 line: bigger than the standard Galaxy S25 and cheaper than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Samsung announced the family on 22 January 2025, and the S25+ became widely available on 7 February 2025. This page is based on Samsung's UK press release and its specification table. We separate what is specific to the S25+ from what Samsung says about the whole series, and we label performance statements as Samsung claims.

Display and size

The S25+ has a 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. Samsung's footnote clarifies that the diagonal is 6.7 inches in the full rectangle and 6.5 inches when the rounded corners and the camera hole are accounted for. The phone measures 158.4 by 75.8 by 7.3 millimetres and weighs 190 grams, compared with 162 grams for the smaller Galaxy S25. Samsung says its ProScaler technology, supported on the S25+ and the Ultra, improves display image scaling quality by 40 percent compared with the Galaxy S24 series, and that a mobile Digital Natural Image engine embedded within the processor helps display power efficiency.

Chipset and cooling

All Galaxy S25 models use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, which Samsung calls the most powerful chipset ever on the Galaxy S series and describes as customised together with Qualcomm Technologies. It claims a performance boost of 40 percent in NPU, 37 percent in CPU and 30 percent in GPU compared with the previous generation, and the footnote says these improvements are compared with the Galaxy S24 Ultra and that actual performance will depend on user conditions and installed software. Ray tracing and a Vulkan engine are mentioned for gaming. For heat, Samsung describes a changed heat dissipation structure with a 40 percent larger vapor chamber and a tailored thermal interface material, so that intensive use and AI processing run smoothly.

Cameras

The specification table lists the S25+ camera as a 50MP Wide camera with OIS at f/1.8 and an 85 degree field of view, a 12MP Ultra-Wide camera at f/2.2 with a 120 degree field of view, and a 10MP Telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom at f/2.4. The front camera is 12MP at f/2.2. The big camera upgrade Samsung highlights, a new 50MP ultra-wide sensor replacing a 12MP one, belongs to the Ultra and not to this phone. What the S25+ shares with the rest of the series are the software features: 10-bit HDR recording by default, which Samsung says gives four times richer colour expression than 8-bit, low-light video with noise reduction that analyses motion, Audio Eraser for isolating and reducing sounds such as voices, crowds, music and wind, Virtual Aperture depth-of-field control in Expert RAW, Galaxy Log for colour grading, and an enhanced Portrait Studio.

Battery and charging

The battery is 4,900 mAh typical, with a rated minimum of 4,755 mAh. Samsung says wired charging can reach up to 65 percent in around 30 minutes with a 45W adapter, based on internal lab tests, and it adds that the adapter and cable are sold separately. Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and Wireless PowerShare are included, with the caution that PowerShare may not work if battery power is below 30 percent. The battery uses at least 50 percent recycled cobalt, according to Samsung's environmental footnotes.

Galaxy AI and One UI 7

The phone ships with One UI 7 on Android 15. Samsung's press release is dominated by software: multimodal AI agents that interpret text, speech, images and video; upgraded Circle to Search from Google; a side-button press-and-hold that activates Gemini across Samsung and Google apps and some third-party apps; Call Transcript and summary; Writing Assist; Drawing Assist; and the Personal Data Engine, which analyses your data on the device to personalise features such as the Now Brief and Now Bar on the lock screen. Samsung says personalised data is kept private and secured by Knox Vault. Some features require a Samsung account, a network connection or specific languages, according to the footnotes, so availability varies. All Galaxy S25 devices also offer a six-month trial of Gemini Advanced with 2 TB of cloud storage.

Updates, durability and materials

Samsung promises seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from the global launch date. The phone is IP68 rated for water and dust resistance in lab conditions of up to 1.5 metres for 30 minutes, with Samsung's caution that this is not permanent and that it is not advised for beach or pool use. Every external component of the S25+ and S25 contains at least one recycled material, and the metal frame contains at least 20 percent recycled aluminium by weight.

Security

Samsung says the series introduces post-quantum cryptography to safeguard personal data against emerging threats, and that personalised data is protected by Knox Vault. It also points to One UI 7 security additions: Maximum Restrictions settings, enhanced Theft Protection and a new Knox Matrix dashboard that monitors the security status across a connected device ecosystem. These are described at series level, and the release does not say whether any depends on the S25+ hardware in particular.

Colours, price and availability

In the UK, the S25+ was priced at 999 pounds for 256 GB and 1,099 pounds for 512 GB, and was available for pre-order from 22 January and widely available from 7 February 2025. Colours were Silver Shadow, Navy, Icy Blue and Mint, with a Blue Black option exclusive to Samsung's website. Samsung ran a launch promotion doubling storage for the same price for pre-orders, which has ended, and a free earbuds offer tied to a livestream, also expired.

What is not in the announcement

The UK release does not give video recording limits, speaker details, charger speed in the box, or independent battery life. Most of the performance numbers compare with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, not with a Galaxy S24+, so they say less about a like-for-like upgrade. The release does not list the exact RAM and storage for every market, and it notes that memory options may vary by market.

Who should buy it

The S25+ is the choice if you want a large, sharp screen, a bigger battery and faster charging than the standard Galaxy S25 but do not need the S Pen or the top camera set of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. If the price is the issue, the Galaxy S25 FE is another member of the family. Apple users can weigh it against the iPhone 16, and the Galaxy S25+ versus iPhone 16 page compares the two.
