The OnePlus Pad 3 is the company's third-generation Android tablet and, on paper, its most ambitious: a 13.2-inch screen with a 3.4K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a 12,140 mAh battery with 80W charging and an all-metal body just 5.97 mm thick. OnePlus announced it on 5 June 2025, and it went on open sale in the United States and Canada on 8 July 2025. This page is based on the published specifications and manufacturer information. It looks at where the tablet fits, what the numbers mean in everyday use, which statements are manufacturer claims and where the trade-offs lie.

Place in the lineup

OnePlus positions the Pad 3 as the flagship of its tablet range, above the earlier OnePlus Pad 2, and compares several of its improvements directly with that model. In the United States the tablet was sold in one configuration only, with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, in a single colour called Storm Blue, at $699.99 (or $999.99 Canadian). It was available from OnePlus.com and Amazon in the US. That price puts it well below the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra and the larger iPad models while offering a bigger screen than the 11-inch Galaxy Tab S11 and the 11-inch iPad Air. The nearest Samsung rival in screen size is the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, and the table at OnePlus Pad 3 vs Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra shows how the two differ in price, screen and battery.

Design and display

The Pad 3 uses an all-metal unibody that OnePlus describes as strong and bend resistant despite measuring less than six millimetres, specifically 5.97 mm. Eight speakers are arranged symmetrically, four woofers and four tweeters, which is more than most tablets offer. The screen is the headline. It measures 13.2 inches diagonally and uses a 3.4K resolution (3392 x 2400 pixels) with a pixel density of 315 ppi. Its 7:5 aspect ratio is closer to a sheet of paper than the 16:10 of many Android tablets, which suits reading, drawing and stacking windows. OnePlus quotes a peak brightness of 900 nits, Dolby Vision certification and DCI-P3 colour coverage.

Two of the display claims need context. The 12-bit colour depth is achieved with 8-bit hardware plus 4-bit frame rate control, and OnePlus itself says the panel is not native 12-bit. The 144Hz refresh rate is available only in compatible, whitelisted apps, and the list can change. In practice this means that many apps will not run at the maximum rate. The panel is an LCD, not an OLED, so black levels and contrast will not match the AMOLED screens used by Samsung's flagship tablets, although LCD avoids the burn-in concern some owners have with OLED.

Performance and cooling

The tablet uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, the same chip that powered the leading Android phones of the 2024 and 2025 generation, with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage in the US version. OnePlus claims the chip is 45 percent faster on the CPU, 40 percent faster on the GPU and 300 percent faster on the NPU than a previous Snapdragon generation, and cites an Antutu score of 2,947,633 from its own test laboratory. Those are manufacturer measurements and should be read as such. What matters more in daily use is sustained performance, and here OnePlus designed a vapor chamber with a total heat-dissipation area of up to 34,857 mm² and a graphite composite that it says dissipates 14 percent more heat than the Pad 2. The company says it supports up to six hours of graphically intensive gaming on a charge.

For a tablet with this chip the processor is likely to be more than most users need, which is a point in its favour for longevity: OnePlus promises three Android OS updates and six years of bimonthly security updates. Six years of security patches is a reasonable promise for a tablet that people tend to keep for a long time.

Software and accessories

The Pad 3 ships with OxygenOS 15, based on Android 15. OnePlus highlights Open Canvas, a multitasking system that supports up to three apps on screen at once, with system-level drag and drop and a prompt that suggests split-screen when you flip between two apps. AI tools include AI Writer, AI Summary, AI Translation and AI Speak, together with Google's Gemini and Circle to Search. For owners of a OnePlus phone there is Multi-Screen Connect, which allows screen mirroring, mobile data sharing and cross-device file management, and a Mac connection through O+ Connect software.

The tablet is designed to work with accessories that are sold separately. The OnePlus Stylo 2 recognises 16,000 levels of pressure and costs $99.99. The Smart Keyboard, at $199.99, has larger, more widely spaced keys, a dedicated AI button and an NFC tap for transfers. The tri-fold Folio Case costs $49.99 and offers several viewing angles. A full productivity setup therefore adds about $350 to the price, which still leaves it competitive with the 13-inch iPad Air and its keyboard, which you can see in the iPad Air M4 page.

Battery and charging

The battery is the other headline figure. OnePlus quotes an equivalent capacity of about 12,140 mAh (typical), the largest in its class according to the company, and 80W SUPERVOOC charging. In the United States and Canada an 80W charger is included in the box. OnePlus says ten minutes of charging adds about 18 percent, and its marketing speaks of up to 18 hours of video playback in lab conditions. Treat those as best-case numbers: a 13.2-inch LCD at 144Hz and high brightness consumes much more than a video test at a lower setting. Even so, a battery this size should give comfortably more than a day of mixed use.

Cameras and other details

The cameras are not what OnePlus emphasises. Retail listings give a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera, which is sufficient for video calls and scanning documents. OnePlus's US materials describe only one configuration and mention no cellular model, so mobile connectivity depends on tethering to a phone, which OnePlus actively promotes through its connect features.

Who it is for

The OnePlus Pad 3 suits people who want a large, fast Android tablet for reading, media, drawing and light work without paying flagship-Samsung or Apple Pro prices. Gamers will appreciate the chip and cooling, students the 7:5 screen and stylus, and OnePlus phone owners the connection features. It is also a sensible choice for anyone who values a long battery.

Compromises

The LCD panel, the limits on 144Hz, and the single US configuration are the main compromises. Accessories are sold separately, availability and the ecosystem of tablet-optimised Android apps is smaller than on iPadOS, and a large 13.2-inch body is not a one-handed device. Buyers who prefer an AMOLED screen and a bundled pen should compare the Galaxy Tab S11, while those who want the biggest iPad-class screen at a similar budget can look at the iPad Air M4.
