The Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 is the 11-inch member of Samsung's 2025 flagship tablet pair, introduced on 4 September 2025 alongside the larger Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. It combines a 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen, a 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ processor, an S Pen in the box and an IP68 rating in a body that is only 5.5 mm thick. This page is based on the published specifications and manufacturer information. It explains where the tablet sits in the range, what each part of the hardware is meant to deliver, and which compromises a buyer should weigh before choosing it over a larger or cheaper model.

Place in the lineup

Samsung announced the Tab S11 series on 4 September 2025 and put it on sale in select markets the same day, in two colours, Gray and Silver. In the United States Samsung stated that the Galaxy Tab S11 starts at $799.99, while the Ultra starts at $1,199.99. The standard model is therefore the more portable and more affordable of the two flagships. It is a different product from the budget-oriented Galaxy Tab S10 Lite that Samsung announced in the same period. If you want the biggest canvas and the thinnest body Samsung makes, the Ultra is the model to read about next, and the page for the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra covers it. The table at Galaxy Tab S11 vs Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra puts the two side by side, and owners of older hardware may want to compare it with the Galaxy Tab S9.

Design and display

The Tab S11 measures 253.8 x 165.3 x 5.5 mm and weighs 469 g in the Wi-Fi version and 471 g with 5G, according to Samsung's specification table. That makes it noticeably more pocketable than the 14.6-inch Ultra, which weighs 692 g. The frame and back use what Samsung calls Armor Aluminum, and the tablet carries an IP68 rating for dust and water, a feature that is still uncommon among large tablets. Samsung does not claim that the rating covers everyday drops, so a case remains sensible for children or for travel.

The display is an 11.0-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 and a 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung quotes a peak brightness of 1600 nits and 1000 nits in high-brightness mode for both tablets in the series. These are manufacturer figures measured under Samsung's own conditions, so they describe a ceiling for small bright areas rather than what the full screen shows indoors. The Ultra adds an anti-reflection coating that the smaller model does not list, which matters if you plan to read or draw near windows. A fingerprint reader sits under the display. Sound comes from four speakers, which is the right count for video and music on a slate this size.

Performance and software

Samsung describes the Tab S11 generation as the first Galaxy Tab to use a 3nm processor. The chip is the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+, and the Tab S11 pairs it with 12GB of RAM in every storage configuration: 128GB, 256GB or 512GB, with microSD support up to 2TB. The company gave improvement percentages of 33 percent for the NPU, 24 percent for the CPU and 27 percent for the GPU, but those figures were given for the Ultra compared with its predecessor, so they should not be applied directly to the 11-inch model. What can be said from the specification is that the chip is a current flagship-class design and that Samsung has chosen a MediaTek part rather than a Snapdragon for this generation.

The tablet launched with Android 16 and One UI 8, which Samsung said made it the first Galaxy tablet to ship with that version. Samsung's announcement emphasises multimodal AI: Gemini Live with screen and camera sharing, Circle to Search, Drawing Assist for turning rough sketches into cleaner images, and Writing Assist. As always with Galaxy AI features, availability can depend on region, language and a Samsung account login, and Samsung makes no promise about the accuracy of AI output. Samsung DeX gained an Extended Mode that spreads the desktop-style interface across the tablet and an external monitor, plus up to four customised workspaces. An optional Book Cover Keyboard Slim adds a dedicated Galaxy AI key. For anyone who wants to use a tablet as a light work machine, DeX plus the keyboard cover is the strongest argument for choosing a Samsung tablet instead of an iPad, and the iPad Air with M4 is the obvious rival in that comparison.

Cameras and the S Pen

The rear camera is a single 13MP sensor, and the front camera is a 12MP ultrawide unit. Samsung's specification places the second, 8MP ultrawide rear camera only on the Ultra. For video calls, scanning documents and occasional photos this is perfectly adequate, and tablet cameras are rarely the reason anyone buys one. The ultrawide front camera is more useful than it sounds, because it lets you sit further from the screen or fit several people into a meeting frame.

The redesigned S Pen is included in the box. Samsung says the new cone-shaped tip supports greater tilt angles and that the hexagonal body is more comfortable to hold than the previous round design. Quick Tools and Sticky Note let you adjust drawing settings or jot a to-do on top of a document without switching apps. Samsung also bundles offers for apps such as Goodnotes, Clip Studio Paint, LumaFusion and Notion, which signals the creative and note-taking audience it has in mind. Not having to buy a pen separately is a real saving compared with Apple's approach.

Battery and charging

The Tab S11 has an 8,400 mAh battery and supports 45W wired charging. Samsung lists the typical capacity and notes a rated minimum of 8,160 mAh. Samsung's marketing material for the tablet speaks of up to 18 hours of video playback in its own lab test with Bluetooth earphones over LTE, which is a best-case figure. Real-world endurance will depend on brightness and refresh rate, and a 120Hz AMOLED panel at high brightness will not reach that number. Samsung recommends using its original data cable to reach the 45W charging speed, which is the maximum the tablet accepts.

Who it is for

The Galaxy Tab S11 suits people who want a premium Android tablet that is genuinely portable: students taking handwritten notes, professionals who read and annotate documents on the move, and anyone who wants a high-quality screen for video. The included S Pen, microSD slot, IP68 rating and DeX make it a more complete package out of the box than most competitors. It also suits households that already use Galaxy phones and watches, because of the shared account features and file handoff.

Compromises

There are trade-offs. Samsung lists Wi-Fi 7 for the Ultra but only Wi-Fi 6E for the standard model, so the smaller tablet is a step behind in wireless standards. The 11-inch screen is excellent for reading but cramped for split-screen work compared with the Ultra or a 13-inch iPad. The processor is not a Snapdragon, which some buyers prefer for game compatibility, though Samsung has not published a limitation. Price is the other consideration: at a US launch price of $799.99, the tablet competes directly with Apple's 11-inch iPad Air, and a keyboard cover adds to the cost. Finally, many Galaxy AI features depend on an account and internet connection. If those are not important to you, a Galaxy tablet from the previous generation could cost less while delivering a similar everyday experience, and the Galaxy Tab S9 remains a point of reference for that choice.
