The realme P2 Pro is a performance-oriented mid-range phone from realme's P series, a line that puts spec-sheet value first. It combines a 6.7-inch curved OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip, a 50MP Sony LYT-600 main camera with optical stabilisation, a 5,200 mAh battery with 80W charging and an IP65 rating. This review is based on the published specifications and manufacturer information from realme's India product and specification pages, so realme's statements are marked as claims and not as measured results. Other markets may use different configurations.

Where the P2 Pro fits in realme's lineup

realme sells the P series alongside its Number series and GT performance line, and the P2 Pro is the "Pro" model of its generation within the P family. The line continued with later models such as the realme P3 Pro and the realme P4 Pro, which are natural points of comparison if you are shopping for a newer phone in the same family. The page P2 Pro versus P3 Pro places the published numbers side by side, and the rankings page shows where the P2 Pro lands among all phones based on its specifications.

Design and display

realme calls the design "BioVision" and describes a bionic texture inspired by nature, with a gold-tone frame and a rounded-square camera island. The India page lists two colours, Parrot Green and Eagle Grey; the latter appears as a dark blue-grey in the manufacturer's images. The phone measures 161.34 x 73.91 mm, is about 8.21 mm thick and weighs about 180 g according to realme's lab data, so it is a fairly light phone for its battery size.

The display is a 6.7-inch curved OLED with a resolution of 2412 x 1080 pixels (FHD+), a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, 100% DCI-P3 coverage and 1.07 billion colours. realme quotes a typical brightness of 600 nits, a global maximum of 1,200 nits and a local peak of 2,000 nits, plus 2160Hz PWM dimming, 240Hz touch sampling with up to 2,000Hz instantaneous sampling, a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio and a 93% screen ratio. A local peak brightness figure applies to small highlight areas, not to the whole screen, so the 1,200 nit global maximum is the more relevant number for sunlight readability. realme positions the high-frequency PWM dimming as eye-friendly and adds an AI Eye Protection feature with 20,000-level automatic brightness adjustment. Fingerprint unlocking is handled by an optical sensor under the display.

Performance and software

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is a 4 nm octa-core chip with a top clock of 2.4 GHz and an Adreno 710 GPU. It is an upper-mid-range processor aimed at smooth everyday use and capable but not top-tier gaming. realme adds a stainless steel vapor cooling system with a 4,500 mm2 cooling area in a nine-layer structure, and claims a reduction of up to 15°C in CPU core temperature in its own simulation, which would help the phone sustain performance in long game sessions. A GT Mode, Geek Power Tuning with customisable CPU performance, a Quick Start for games and a voice changer round out the gaming features.

Memory options are 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of storage. realme also advertises up to 12GB of dynamic RAM, which is software-based and borrows from storage space; the physical RAM is therefore 8GB or 12GB. The company's marketing emphasises 24GB of total memory with 512GB, but that is a combined figure that includes virtual memory, so it should not be read as 24GB of real RAM. The software is realme UI 5.0, based on Android 14. The India pages list features such as File Dock, App Cloner, Air Gestures and Microsoft Phone Link. A 4-year battery health guarantee is mentioned in the marketing, but the pages we reviewed do not state an operating system update policy, so we leave it out.

Camera

The rear camera system has two lenses. The main camera is a 50MP Sony LYT-600 sensor with a 1/1.95-inch size, an f/1.88 aperture, a 26 mm equivalent focal length, a 79 degree field of view and optical image stabilisation. The second lens is an 8MP ultrawide with a 112 degree field of view and an f/2.2 aperture. There is no dedicated telephoto or macro lens listed. realme highlights an AI HyperRAW algorithm for lower noise and a SuperOIS mode that combines optical and electronic stabilisation for four-axis stabilisation, as well as AI Smart Removal for erasing objects in photos. Video recording goes up to 4K at 30fps on the rear camera, with 1080p at 60fps and 30fps and 720p options, and slow motion at 1080p 120fps.

The front camera is a 32MP Sony sensor with an f/2.45 aperture and a 90 degree field of view, with 4K selfie video at 30fps listed in the front-camera functions. For most social media use these specs are plenty, and the optical stabilisation on the main rear camera is a real advantage in this price segment when shooting video or low-light photos, although the actual quality depends on realme's image processing.

Battery and charging

The battery has a typical capacity of 5,200 mAh and a minimum capacity of 5,050 mAh. Charging runs at 80W SUPERVOOC, and the box includes an 80W adapter and a USB Type-C cable. realme claims a charge from 1% to 50% in 19 minutes, and quotes about 18.6 hours of YouTube playback; both numbers come from realme's own laboratory tests and will vary with conditions and with battery wear over time. The company also promises a four-year battery health guarantee, which is a notable commitment, but you should read the exact terms in your market.

Durability, connectivity and audio

The P2 Pro is rated IP65 for dust and splash resistance, which means complete protection against dust and protection against water jets, but not against submersion; realme's footnotes describe the phone as splash-proof and dust-resistant under normal use, so treat IP65 as a splash and rain rating and not as a swimming rating. The glass and a shock-absorbing structure called ArmorShell Protection are intended for drop protection, as a company claim.

Connectivity includes 5G (SA and NSA), dual nano SIM, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and GPS with BeiDou, GLONASS, Galileo and QZSS. The page lists NFC as not available, which is relevant in markets where contactless payment is common. Audio comes from Super Linear dual speakers with dual-microphone noise cancellation, and a tactile engine provides gaming haptics.

Who it is for

The P2 Pro is a good fit for people who want a bright, smooth screen, an upper-mid-range chip with decent cooling, quick 80W charging and stabilised photos without paying flagship prices. It also suits mobile gamers who value the cooling system and the game features.

Compromises

Overall, the realme P2 Pro is a performance-first mid-ranger with a strong display, charging and cooling story and a handful of omissions. If you would rather look at a newer model of the family, start with the P3 Pro page.
