The Infinix Hot 50 is a budget phone that tries to stand out through thinness, screen size and software extras rather than raw power. Model X6882 combines a 6.78-inch Full HD+ screen that can run at 120Hz, a MediaTek Helio G100 processor, a 50MP main camera, a 5,000 mAh battery and a body only 7.7 mm thick, and it keeps features that many rivals have dropped, including a headphone jack, an FM radio, NFC and a microSD slot. This page covers the 4G version with 18W charging, which is a separate product from the Hot 50 5G. The review is based on the published specifications and Infinix's own product pages, and it labels company statements as claims.
Where it sits in the lineup
Infinix sells the Hot series as its volume line for emerging markets, and the Hot 50 family has several members: the 4G model reviewed here, a 5G model with different hardware, and the Hot 50 Pro and Pro+ above them. The 4G Hot 50 is the plain version of the group, designed to be sold in large numbers at a low price. It is a predecessor of newer models such as the Infinix Hot 60 Pro, which shows how the series moved on. Infinix's regional pages carry no price and no release date, so neither is stated here; the phone reached markets around mid-2024.
Memory depends on the market. The specification page lists 6GB or 8GB of RAM combined with 128GB or 256GB of UFS storage, and a microSD card of up to 2TB can be added. Infinix also promotes extended RAM of up to 8GB plus 8GB, giving a headline figure of up to 16GB; that extra memory is borrowed from the storage and is not physical RAM.
Design and display
The phone measures 167.88 x 75.63 x 7.70 mm and weighs 187 g. Infinix calls the 7.7 mm profile a premium slim design, which is thin for a phone with a 5,000 mAh battery. It comes in Sleek Black, Sage Green and Titanium Grey, and the back carries a vertical camera island with three rings, although the specification lists only a main camera plus flashes. Infinix lists no formal dust or water resistance rating on the pages consulted; its footnote about liquid damage not being covered by the warranty suggests treating the phone as splash-vulnerable.
The screen is a 6.78-inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 1080 x 2460, a refresh rate that can be set to 60Hz, 90Hz or 120Hz, a typical brightness of 800 nits and a screen-to-body ratio of 90.6 percent. Infinix lists a touch sampling rate of up to 240Hz on the specification page and 85 percent NTSC colour coverage. In its marketing material the company also quotes a 1,200Hz instant touch sampling rate for gaming, which is a separate gaming-mode figure rather than the standard rate. An LCD cannot match an AMOLED panel for contrast, but a bright, large 120Hz screen at this price is a good use of the budget, and the always-on and dynamic bar features add a small amount of convenience.
Performance and software
The processor is a MediaTek Helio G100, built by TSMC on a 6nm process, with two Cortex-A76 cores at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz and a Mali-G57 MC2 graphics chip. Infinix quotes an AnTuTu score of 431,072, which is a company-reported figure and not independently verified here. In practical terms the G100 is a competent entry-level gaming chip: smooth for social media, video and casual titles, and acceptable for popular games at moderate settings. Infinix says the phone can unlock 90 frames per second in Free Fire and Mobile Legends, and it adds touch and sound tuning for gaming.
The software is XOS 14.5, built on Android 14. Infinix highlights its AI features: AI Eraser to remove unwanted objects or passers-by from photos, AI CutOuts to lift a subject out of a picture with a long press, and AI Wallpaper to create images from a prompt. The company also claims a TÜV SÜD five-year fluency certification, describing it as a world first, based on memory optimisation to limit slowdown as the phone ages, and says up to 25 apps can stay active in the background. These are manufacturer claims about software behaviour and cannot be checked from a specification sheet. The page does not state how many Android upgrades the phone will receive.
Camera
The rear camera is a single 50MP sensor, a Samsung S5KJN1 with a 1/2.76-inch format, a six-element lens, an f/1.6 aperture and autofocus. There is a dual flash at the back and a flash on the front. The front camera is 8MP with an f/2.0 aperture and fixed focus. Video recording is limited to 2K at 30 frames per second, Full HD at 60 or 30 frames per second, and 720p. The scene modes include portrait, super night, slow motion, time-lapse, dual video, panorama, documents and a Pro mode.
The camera setup is straightforward: one good main sensor and no dedicated ultrawide or telephoto lens, which keeps costs down but limits framing options. The wide f/1.6 aperture should help in dim light, and the AI features can tidy a photo afterwards. Expect decent daylight pictures and average results at night, and treat the 8MP selfie camera as adequate for video calls.
Battery and charging
The battery is 5,000 mAh typical, and the charger is rated at 7.5V and 2.4A, which is 18W. That is a modest speed by today's standards, so a full charge takes a long time compared with phones offering 33W or more. Infinix compensates with software: bypass charging that powers the phone directly while gaming to limit heat, overnight charging protection and liquid detection on the charging port. The company also claims that after four years of use the battery keeps more than 80 percent of its health, with 1,600 guaranteed charge cycles against an industry standard of 800, which is a lab-based claim and not a promise about real-world wear.
Connectivity and extras
The 4G bands listed include B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B20, B28, B38, B40 and B41, plus 2G and 3G fallbacks. There is no 5G. The phone takes two nano-SIM cards and a microSD card, supports dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, FM radio and OTG, has a USB-C port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and includes a fingerprint sensor. Audio support includes DTS, Hi-Res certification and Widevine L1 for HD streaming.
Who it is for
The Hot 50 suits buyers who want a large, smooth screen, a headphone jack, expandable storage and long battery life on a tight budget, in markets where 4G is still sufficient. It also fits younger users who play casual online games. People who want 5G or a better camera system should consider the 5G sibling or a Pro model. Compromises to know about
- 4G only: there is no 5G on this version.
- Charging speed: 18W is slow, and the charger rating is the only fast-charging figure given.
- Display type: an IPS LCD, with lower contrast than an AMOLED screen.
- Camera: one 50MP main camera and an 8MP fixed-focus selfie camera only.
- No stated water resistance: no IP rating is listed.
