The TECNO Spark 30C is an entry-level phone that tries to look and feel more expensive than it is. TECNO's specification sheet lists a 6.67-inch screen at 120Hz, a 50MP rear camera, an 8MP selfie camera, a 5000 mAh battery with 18W charging, Android 14, an IP54 rating, a G81 processor and a memory menu that stretches to 8GB of real RAM and 256GB of storage. This is a specification-and-information review based on the published specifications and manufacturer information from TECNO's global website, so durability tests, loudness figures and software promises below are TECNO's own claims and not independent measurements. We cover where the phone fits, the design and display, performance and memory, the cameras, battery and charging, who should buy it and where it cuts corners.

Where it fits in the Spark range

The Spark family is one of TECNO's mainstream lines, and TECNO's site offers it in a long list of markets across Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe. The name 30C places this phone inside the Spark 30 generation. TECNO's own model menu shows several siblings: the Spark 30, a Limited Edition, a 5G version, the 30C 5G and the Pro versions. The Spark 30C described here is the one whose specification sheet lists 2G, 3G and 4G networks, so it should not be confused with the 5G model that carries almost the same name.

If you are looking at the line as a whole, other models in the range include the TECNO Spark 40 and the TECNO Spark Go 1, and the TECNO Camon 40 belongs to TECNO's separate Camon line. TECNO's page does not publish a price, so we do not quote one, and the release date used for this entry is the date supplied with the model list because the official page does not print a launch date.

Design and display

TECNO describes three finishes: Orbit Black, Orbit White and a green one called Magic Skin 3.0. All three share a large round camera island in the upper part of the back, with four visible openings, among them a ring flash. The black version has a fine-grained matte surface, the white one is surrounded by a rainbow-gradient ring around the lens, and the green model has a stone-like texture with a thin stitched circle drawn around the island. TECNO markets the green finish as a soft, skin-like coating. The spec sheet gives no dimensions or weight, so we cannot state how thick or heavy the phone is.

The screen is a 6.67-inch hole-punch panel with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. That is an HD+ resolution, which on a screen of this size gives a lower pixel density than a full HD+ display. Text is readable, but fine detail will be softer than on a phone that costs a little more. The page does not state the panel type, so we do not say whether it is LCD or OLED. The refresh rate is 120Hz, and TECNO describes it as intelligent, meaning that it adjusts to what is on screen to save energy. Other display-related features on the spec sheet are touch control for wet and oily fingers and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The loudspeaker deserves a mention: the phone has dual symmetrical speakers with DTS sound, and TECNO claims a volume of up to three times louder than before. As with every manufacturer comparison of this kind, the baseline is not stated, so treat it as marketing.

Performance, memory and software

The processor is listed simply as G81, which we do not expand into a longer name because TECNO's sheet does not. What the sheet does give in detail is memory. There are four combinations: 128GB of storage with 8GB of RAM (made of 4GB physical and 4GB extended), 128GB with 12GB (6GB plus 6GB), 256GB with 8GB (4GB plus 4GB) and 256GB with 16GB (8GB plus 8GB). The extended part is virtual memory borrowed from storage, so the largest real RAM figure is 8GB on the 256GB model. Extended RAM can help keep more apps in the background, but it is not as fast as real memory and should not be read as a performance boost for demanding tasks.

The phone runs Android 14. TECNO's launch material talks about lasting fluency over more than four years, a claim made on its product page that depends on usage and software updates and that we cannot verify. The page does not state how many Android upgrades or security patches are promised, so a buyer who cares about long support should ask the seller. Extra features on the sheet include an infrared remote control, which is rare among phones and useful for televisions and air conditioners, and a Wi-Fi feature that TECNO calls Super WiFi, which it claims keeps connections stable in crowded places such as airports and cafes.

Cameras

The rear camera is a 50MP main sensor with a dual rear flash. TECNO describes it as an HDR, ultra-sensitive camera aiming for vivid, lifelike pictures. The sheet does not list any additional lens, so we treat the phone as a single-camera device from the point of view of the specifications, even though the module shows several openings, which probably include an auxiliary sensor and the flash ring. A single 50MP sensor means no dedicated ultra-wide and no optical zoom; any zoom will be digital cropping.

The front camera is 8MP with its own dual flash, which is unusual at this level and helps selfies in dim rooms. Video resolution and frame rates are not listed. Overall, the camera system is a functional daylight and casual-use package, and without independent samples we cannot comment on night performance, dynamic range or autofocus speed.

Battery, charging and durability

The battery capacity is 5000 mAh, and the fast charging is 18W through a USB Type-C port. Those two numbers are typical for the class. TECNO does not publish hours of video playback or a charging time on the pages we read, so the real-world endurance remains an estimate based on capacity alone: a large cell and an efficient adaptive refresh rate suggest a full day for most users, but that is a reasoning from the spec, not a measurement. The sheet does not say whether a charger is included.

The durability story is more detailed than usual for a cheap phone. TECNO claims IP54 dust and water resistance, tested by SGS Lab, which protects against limited dust ingress and water spray from any direction. That is not the same as waterproofing, and it does not cover immersion. TECNO also lists stress tests: 2,000 twist cycles, 600 roller cycles, 25,000 micro drops and 20,000 USB plug cycles. These are manufacturer test counts and tell us about the effort that went into the design, not about how any individual phone will fare after a fall.

Who should buy it

The phone suits shoppers with a tight budget who still want a big, smooth screen, a battery that lasts, protection against rain and dust, and loud speakers. It is also a sensible first smartphone for a teenager or a second device for a household. Those looking for 5G, a sharp display, a strong camera or a long update promise should look higher in the range. To see how this phone compares with a newer sibling, use the comparison with the Spark 40, and the rankings show where it falls among all the phones we cover.

Compromises

The Spark 30C is a value phone that puts its money into screen smoothness, battery size and durability claims. If those are your priorities, it is an option; if you want a sharper screen, faster charging or more cameras, it is not.
