The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus is Nothing's mid-range phone with a bit more performance and a bigger battery than the standard Phone (2a). It keeps the company's transparent-look back with the Glyph Interface light strips, and adds the MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro 5G processor, a 6.7-inch flexible AMOLED display at 120 Hz, a 5,000 mAh battery with 50 W charging and a pair of 50 MP rear cameras. This page reads through the specification published on Nothing's product page and its own descriptions, sorts claims from facts, and explains what kind of buyer the phone suits. It is based on published information, not on personal testing.

Where the Plus fits

Nothing positions the Phone (2a) Plus as "our most popular smartphone, now amplified", which is the company's way of saying it is an upgraded version of the Phone (2a). The company claims a processor that is 10 percent faster, a 50 MP front camera for which it cites a 56 percent improvement, and charging nearly 10 percent quicker than the earlier model. Those are comparisons against Nothing's own previous phone, so they do not say how the Plus compares with rivals. In the current Nothing line the later Nothing Phone (3a) and Phone (3a) Lite sit nearby, the Phone (4a) is the newer step, and the Phone (3) is the flagship. Anyone shopping the family should read the (2a) Plus as the older, simpler design of the group.

Design and display

The dimensions are 161.7 x 76.3 x 8.6 mm and the weight is 190 g. There are two colours, Black and Grey. The back is the main design statement: a semi-transparent look with visible component-style graphics, a circular camera module with two lenses, and the Glyph light elements around it. Nothing says the finish on the Plus uses a "metallic" effect achieved through nano-coating and multi-layer printing, and that recycled plastic from the production of its Ear (2) earbuds is used in the phone. Nothing also publishes a carbon footprint of 53.34 kg CO2e for the device, a number that is the company's own figure.

The screen is a flexible 6.7-inch AMOLED with FHD+ resolution, an adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate and 1.07 billion colours. Nothing lists three brightness values: 700 nits typical, 1,100 nits in high brightness mode and 1,300 nits peak. The phone is rated IP54, which covers dust and splashes but not immersion. Nothing describes drop tests from 1.5 metres from several angles, a 400 N force test and temperature cycling between -40 and 75 degrees Celsius; those tests are described by the manufacturer and are not independently verified.

The Glyph Interface is the feature that most clearly separates this phone from its competitors. Instead of a conventional notification LED, the rear has light segments that can show custom patterns for specific contacts, a progress indicator, a countdown when the phone is face down and a volume level. Nothing also describes using the light as a ring light for photos. The Glyph is as much a style choice as a function, and people who dislike the look may prefer a more conventional design.

Performance, memory and software

The Dimensity 7350 Pro 5G is an eight-core processor that Nothing says runs at up to 3.0 GHz, with an Arm Mali-G610 MC4 graphics unit at 1.3 GHz. Nothing claims graphics performance 30 percent faster than the standard (2a). It is a mid-range chip, so it should handle everyday apps and many games well but should not be expected to match flagship performance. Cooling is a notable point on the spec page: the phone has a vapour chamber and a graphite frame described as 110 micrometres thick and 12,000 square millimetres in area, intended to spread heat and keep performance steady.

Memory comes in 8 GB or 12 GB versions, paired with 256 GB of storage. Nothing advertises "20 GB RAM" for the 12 GB version through a 8 GB software "RAM booster", and its own footnote clarifies that the extra memory is created from storage space, so the physical RAM remains 12 GB. The usable storage is reduced when the booster is active.

The listed software is Nothing OS 3.0 based on Android 15, which is the version shown on the current product page. Nothing states three years of major Android updates and four years of security updates. The skin is known for a minimal look with the custom Dot Engine fonts and icons, Shared Widgets, and a ChatGPT integration for Nothing earbuds. Connectivity includes dual-mode 5G (NSA and SA) with a long list of bands (n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n28, n38, n40, n41, n66, n77 and n78), Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS with several satellite systems, and dual nano SIM. There is no eSIM on this model.

Camera

The camera layout is a pair of 50 MP sensors. The main camera is a 1/1.57 inch sensor with an f/1.9 aperture, optical and electronic stabilisation, phase-detection autofocus and 2x in-sensor zoom. The ultra-wide camera is also 50 MP with f/2.2, a 1/2.76 inch sensor and a 114-degree field of view. There is no telephoto camera, so beyond 2x the zoom is digital. The front camera is 50 MP with an f/2.2 aperture, a 1/2.76 inch sensor and electronic stabilisation, with an 81.2-degree field of view.

Nothing mentions video at up to 4K from either side, and describes several software features: a multi-frame HDR system developed with Google, an AI-based Vivid Mode, action-shot capture, face-detecting resolution enhancement and long exposure in low light. These are processing claims and their effect cannot be inferred from the numbers. What is clear is that the use of three 50 MP sensors is unusual in this class: a large main sensor, a high-resolution ultra-wide and a high-resolution selfie camera.

Battery and charging

The battery is 5,000 mAh, described as Nothing's biggest to date, and the company claims up to two days of use on a full charge. Wired charging is 50 W, with a listed time of 56 minutes for 0 to 100 percent and a claim of a day of power in under 20 minutes. Reverse charging is rated at 5 W. Nothing's support pages state that the phone cannot be charged with wireless chargers. It also claims that the battery will keep more than 90 percent of its capacity after 1,000 charge cycles, a figure to treat as a target from the manufacturer.

Who it is for

The (2a) Plus is for someone who wants an unusual look, clean software and a balanced mid-range specification, with the added attraction of a strong camera trio on paper. It appeals to people who like the Glyph lights and the minimal software, and who want a lasting update promise. It is less suitable for those who want a telephoto lens, wireless charging, an eSIM or the highest performance. You can compare it directly with Samsung's mid-range device on the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus vs Galaxy A56 page, read about that rival on the Galaxy A56 page and browse the rankings for other options.

Compromises

Overall, the published information describes a stylish and well-equipped mid-range phone with a clear identity, a competent battery and charging story and a clearly stated software support promise. The main caveats are ordinary ones: manufacturer claims about speed and battery life need independent confirmation, and the phone is now one step behind newer Nothing models.
