The Lenovo Yoga Tab Gen 2 is an 11.1-inch Android tablet built around a pen, a very sharp screen and a low weight. It runs on a MediaTek Dimensity 9500s chip, carries an 11,000 mAh battery and weighs about 480 grams without accessories. Lenovo calls it the portability-led member of its new Yoga tablet pair, and the published specifications back that up: the screen has the same 4K resolution and 144Hz ceiling as the larger model, but the body is smaller, lighter and, according to Lenovo's estimate, cheaper. This page is a specification-and-information review based on the published specifications and manufacturer information, covering the lineup, hardware, software promise and trade-offs.

Place in the lineup

Lenovo announced the tablet on 3 September 2026 at Innovation World in Berlin, next to the 13-inch Lenovo Yoga Tab Plus Gen 2. The two share the same software foundation, the same pen, the same display technology branded PureSight Pro, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and the same 68W charging support. They differ in screen size, processor, memory, battery, speakers and rear camera. According to Lenovo, the standard Gen 2 is for people who create wherever inspiration strikes and who prioritise mobility and everyday versatility over maximum performance.

Lenovo's estimated starting price is 649 euros including tax, with availability expected from September 2026. The announcement did not mention a United States price, so none is given here. Treat the euro figure as an estimate for European markets, and expect storage options and bundles to vary by country.

Design and display

The tablet is 250.60 x 172.98 x 8.56 mm including the camera bump, and it starts at about 480 grams for the tablet alone. That puts it in the same size class as an 11-inch iPad, and it is easy to hold in one hand for reading or sketching on a lap. Two colours are listed: Cosmic Blue and Seashell. Lenovo does not publish the body material in the announcement.

The screen is an 11.1-inch 4K panel with 3840 x 2560 pixels in a 3:2 aspect ratio, which works out to about 415 pixels per inch, sharper than the 13-inch sibling's 355. Lenovo lists 30, 60, 90, 120 and 144Hz refresh rates, a peak brightness of 1,100 nits and Dolby Vision. Unlike the larger model, the release does not list a DCI-P3 percentage for this panel, so colour coverage is not stated. A 3:2 shape suits handwriting, drawing and reading documents, and 4K on a screen this size is far beyond what the eye resolves in normal use, so the benefit is mostly crisp pen lines and text. As with all peak-brightness figures, the 1,100 nits is a Lenovo figure for small bright areas.

Performance and software

The processor is the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s, which Lenovo describes as having native AI optimisation. The company says it delivers fast, responsive performance for sketching, note-taking, productivity and entertainment through the day. Lenovo has not published benchmarks, so there is no verified comparison with the Snapdragon 8 Elite in the Plus model; expect the Plus to be the faster of the two, given its higher memory options and flagship chip, while the Gen 2 should be ample for drawing and everyday apps.

Memory and storage come in three combinations: 8GB with 128GB, 8GB with 256GB and 12GB with 256GB. A microSD slot accepts cards up to 2TB. The 128GB base option is comparatively small for a creative tablet, so the 256GB versions or a memory card make sense for anyone saving large artwork or video files.

Software is a highlight. The tablet launches with Android 17, and Lenovo states seven OS upgrades through Android 24 and up to seven years of security updates through 2033. Lenovo lists these native AI features: Lenovo AI Vision, Lenovo Qira, Smart AI Input, AI Creation Tools, AI Note and Live Transcript, all intended to move ideas from a spoken thought, a photo or a sketch into finished notes or artwork. Regional availability can differ. Lenovo also showed a Smart Canvas Concept at its event, using this tablet together with a Yoga all-in-one PC; it is described as a concept for carrying work between devices, not a finished product to buy.

Pen, keyboard and everyday use

The pen is the Tab Pen Pro 2. Lenovo lists 8,192 pressure levels, tilt detection, palm rejection and gestures called Click to Draw, Squeeze to Select, Flip to Erase and Double Tap, plus a double-click of the pen tail to record. Whether the pen is bundled is not stated in the announcement. A detachable 2-in-1 keyboard pack with a stand is optional and connects through the three-point pogo pin, so the tablet can switch between a drawing slab and a small laptop-style setup. The keyboard pack is a stand plus keyboard rather than a clamshell, which tends to be less stable on a lap than a rigid hinge.

For a similar-sized rival see the iPad Air M3, or compare directly in Lenovo Yoga Tab Gen 2 vs iPad Air M3. Samsung's older Galaxy Tab S9 is another reference point for an Android tablet with a pen.

Cameras and audio

The rear camera is a single 13MP autofocus unit, one step simpler than the Plus model's 13MP plus 2MP macro pairing. The front side has an 8MP camera plus a 0.3MP sensor. These are tablet-class cameras, good for scanning pages, video calls and quick reference shots.

The audio system uses four speakers and two microphones. That is fewer speakers than the six Harman Kardon units on the Plus, and the announcement does not state that this smaller tablet carries the Harman Kardon tuning, so a speaker advantage should not be assumed. Live Transcript and voice features rely on the two microphones.

Battery and connectivity

The battery is rated at 11,000 mAh (typical) and supports 68W charging. For an 11-inch tablet this is a large capacity, although a 4K panel running at up to 144Hz is demanding, and the adaptive range down to 30Hz is there to save power. Lenovo's release includes no video-playback hours, and it does not say whether a charger ships in the box. Connectivity covers Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1; no cellular model is listed.

Who it is for

This tablet is for people who want a pen-first Android slate that is easy to carry: students, note-takers, commuters who sketch, and anyone who reads and annotates PDFs. It is also the better choice for people who do not need the extra performance and speakers of the Plus and would rather save money and weight. People who want a bigger canvas for illustration or a laptop-like setup will probably prefer the 13-inch model.

Compromises and open questions

In short, the Yoga Tab Gen 2 offers a rare combination in a small tablet: a 4K 144Hz 3:2 screen, a high-end MediaTek chip, up to 12GB of RAM, microSD and a seven-year update plan. Its main uncertainties are price outside Europe and how it performs in independent tests. The rankings page shows how it compares with other tablets.
