The OnePlus Watch 3 is the company's Wear OS smartwatch and its most ambitious wearable so far. It combines a large 1.50-inch LTPO AMOLED screen, a stainless steel case with sapphire glass and a two-chip design that pairs a Snapdragon W5 with a low-power companion processor, with the goal of delivering full Google features and multi-day battery life together. This review is based on the published specifications and manufacturer information, so OnePlus's statements are marked as claims, not measured results.

Where the Watch 3 fits

Because the Watch 3 runs Wear OS, its software is not tied to a single phone brand. It competes with the established Wear OS names such as the Galaxy Watch8 and the Pixel Watch 3, and sits alongside OnePlus's phones such as the OnePlus 13 in the brand's ecosystem. You can set the Watch 3 against Samsung's model directly in the comparison page, and the rankings page places it among all smartwatches in the database.

Design, materials and size

The Watch 3 is a big, round, traditional-looking watch. The case is stainless steel in black or silver, with a titanium bezel of the matching tone, and the cover glass is sapphire crystal. OnePlus states a Mohs hardness of 8 or more for the glass, which is a claim about scratch resistance. Official colours are Emerald Titanium and Obsidian Titanium, shown with a green or a black strap.

The dimensions are 46.6 mm (excluding lugs) by 47.6 mm, with a thickness of 11.75 mm excluding the sensor area. The watch weighs 49.7 g without the strap and 81 g with the supplied strap, and it is designed for wrists of 140 to 210 mm. It also accepts standard 22 mm straps, which is useful because it lets you swap bands from the wider market. This is not a small or light watch: people with slim wrists or who prefer an ultra-light tracker may find it heavy, especially for sleeping.

Display

The screen is a 1.50-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with 466 x 466 pixels and a peak brightness of up to 2,200 nits. LTPO technology lets the refresh rate drop when the content is static, which helps with battery use and makes always-on watch faces practical. At this size and resolution text is sharp and bright outdoor visibility should be strong, although the 2,200 nits figure is a peak value for short periods.

Performance and software

The watch uses a dual-chip architecture. A Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 handles Wear OS and apps, while a BES2800BP microcontroller runs a lightweight real-time operating system (RTOS) for background and low-power tasks. This is the idea behind the "Smart Mode" battery claims: when the full operating system does not need to run, the low-power chip keeps basic functions alive. The system is Wear OS by Google combined with RTOS, with access to Google Play, Google Maps and Google Wallet.

OnePlus lists 32GB under "Memory" on its specification page and does not state RAM separately, so we cannot give a RAM figure here. Plenty of storage matters mostly for offline maps, music and apps. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi on 2.4 and 5GHz, NFC, Bluetooth calling, and dual-frequency GPS on the L1 and L5 bands plus BeiDou, Galileo, GLONASS and QZSS. Dual-frequency positioning generally helps in cities and under trees. Payments use Google Wallet.

Health and fitness

The sensor list is extensive: an optical heart rate sensor, an optical pulse oximeter, a wrist temperature sensor, geomagnetic and light sensors, a barometer, an accelerometer and a gyroscope. OnePlus highlights a "60-second Health Check-In", a vascular health measure based on arterial stiffness, sleep monitoring with a quality score and a snoring risk assessment, SpO2 spot checks and all-day tracking, heart rate alerts, and a "Mind and Body" emotional wellness feature. These are wellness features and not medical diagnoses. Data is stored in the OHealth app, which supports Google Health Connect and Strava.

For sport, the watch offers more than 100 modes, of which 11 are described as professional modes with extra metrics: skiing, running (including cadence, stride length and running power), tennis, badminton, swimming, rope skipping, mountain climbing, walking, cycling, elliptical and rowing. Runners and multisport users will notice that these are the metrics that dedicated sports watches also provide, though specialist devices such as the Garmin Forerunner 970 go deeper on training analysis and are built around it.

Battery and charging

Battery life is the Watch 3's main selling point among Wear OS watches. OnePlus claims up to 5 days in Smart Mode (120 hours under a stated usage scenario), up to 3 days with heavy use in Smart Mode and up to 16 days in Power Saver Mode. It also says about 10 minutes of charging gives roughly one day of use. The battery capacity in mAh is not stated on the page; OnePlus calls it the "OnePlus Silicon NanoStack Battery". These are manufacturer claims, and real-world results depend on how much you use GPS, the always-on display and notifications. Power Saver Mode reduces what the watch can do, so the 16-day figure applies to a limited feature set.

Compared with many full Wear OS watches that need charging every one to two days, a claimed multi-day runtime is a clear advantage, and the Apple Watch Series 10, which is an iPhone-only product, is a useful reference for what a one-to-two-day smartwatch looks like.

Durability and water resistance

OnePlus gives the Watch 3 ratings of IP68 and 5ATM, together with testing to MIL-STD-810H. The company lists tests including low pressure, high and low temperature (70 degrees Celsius and -40 degrees Celsius), temperature shock, solar radiation, rain, humidity, salt spray, sand and dust, immersion, vibration and impact. MIL-STD-810H testing is run by the manufacturer to chosen procedures and does not mean the watch is unbreakable. The 5ATM rating allows swimming in a pool or shallow water, but not high-speed water sports or diving.

Who the OnePlus Watch 3 is for

The Watch 3 suits Android users who want a premium-feeling Wear OS watch with a big display, solid materials and longer battery life than most rivals. It is a good fit for people who like a classic watch look, who want Google Maps and Google Wallet on the wrist and who prefer to charge less often. Because it uses Wear OS it is meant for Android phones from several brands; check OnePlus's compatibility information for your specific phone.

It is not a good fit for iPhone owners, since Wear OS watches are built for Android phones, or for people who want a very small and light watch.

Compromises to consider

The OnePlus Watch 3 is a serious attempt to solve the biggest weakness of Wear OS watches, which is battery life, without giving up the apps and services that make Wear OS useful. If you are comfortable with its size and its Android-only nature, the specifications make it one of the more interesting options in its category.
