The Garmin CIRQA Smart Band is the company's first screen-free fitness and health tracker: a small sensor module on a soft fabric band with no display at all, designed to log your day and night in the background and show everything in the Garmin Connect app. Garmin announced it on 21 July 2026, stated that it was available immediately and set a suggested retail price of $199.99 in the US. This article is based on the published specifications and manufacturer information, and Garmin's statements about performance are presented as claims. The idea is easy to grasp: strip out the screen and notifications, keep the sensors and the training analytics, and aim for up to 10 days of battery life.

Where it fits in Garmin's range

Garmin already sells a long line of watches, from multisport models such as the Forerunner 970 to rugged outdoor models like the Fenix 9 and the endurance-focused Enduro 4. The CIRQA does not compete with those on features such as maps or on-wrist training screens. Garmin positions it as a companion that complements those devices: its vice president of consumer sales and marketing says users can move between Garmin devices during the day. It is also pitched as a gift for people who want to stay on top of health goals without a subscription. For a feature-by-feature look at how a screen-free band differs from a full running watch, see the CIRQA vs Forerunner 970 comparison.

Design and wearing options

The CIRQA is built around a module measuring 27 x 47 x 9 mm that weighs 14.8 g. It sits on a woven fabric ComfortFit band attached with 14 mm quick-release pins on a 24 mm wide strap. With the S-M band the complete unit weighs 20.7 g (5.9 g for the strap) and with the L-XL band 21.2 g (6.4 g for the strap). The S-M strap fits wrists of 120 to 200 mm and the L-XL strap 145 to 240 mm. Garmin lists a fibre-reinforced polymer case and offers the fabric band in seven colours: Citron Gray, Mauve, French Gray, Dark Olive, Captain Blue, French Blue and Black. One practical idea is that it can be worn on the wrist or on the upper arm, depending on the activity or on sleeping preferences, which could suit people who find wrist devices annoying in bed or during gym sessions.

There is no display, so the interaction model is limited to a single side button and the phone app. A press lets you start tracking a chosen activity. The band is rated for swimming at 5 ATM, which is a standard water rating for pool use. Garmin lists Bluetooth and ANT+ connectivity, and the band is compatible with iPhone and Android phones.

Health monitoring

Worn day and night, the band records wrist-based heart rate, Body Battery energy monitoring, Pulse Ox blood oxygen (optionally all day and during sleep), stress, skin temperature, respiration and more. Garmin lists high and low heart rate alerts too. Women can track the menstrual cycle and pregnancy, see better period predictions and past ovulation estimates based on skin temperature during sleep, and sync the data with the Natural Cycles app, which requires its own subscription. Garmin notes that these features are not meant to support conception or contraception and that the device is not a medical device.

Sleep tracking covers sleep stages, a sleep score, guidance on ideal sleep duration, heart rate variability, respiration and nap detection, all viewed in Garmin Connect rather than on the band. Garmin also includes non-guided meditation, and guided breathwork is available only through the paid Garmin Connect+ service.

Fitness tracking and training metrics

Without a screen, the band automatically detects and records many activities, and you review and edit them afterwards in Garmin Connect. Garmin says the band learns from your confirmations and edits and classifies similar activities more accurately in the future. For manual tracking, you can choose from more than 80 activity types, including running, walking and yoga, or pick a favourite and start it with the side button. Advanced training features include training readiness, HRV status, VO2 max, training status, workout benefit and recovery time. The band has no GPS of its own: it uses the connected GPS of a compatible phone for outdoor walks, rides and runs, and LiveTrack lets friends and family follow along when it is used with the phone and the Garmin Connect app. It can also broadcast heart rate over ANT+ or Bluetooth Low Energy to other devices.

Battery and charging

Garmin quotes up to 10 days of battery life from the lithium-ion cell, a claim that will vary with the use of features such as all-day Pulse Ox. Charging uses Garmin's proprietary plug charger. The band stores 128 MB of history. Because there is no display, there are no always-on power costs from a screen, which is one likely reason a device this small can promise a week or more.

The subscription question

Garmin's headline is that no subscription is required for health and fitness tracking. That statement is accurate for core metrics such as sleep, stress, Body Battery and training status, but the specification sheet also shows that some extras are available only through Garmin Connect+, including Garmin's coaching and certain workout libraries (cardio, strength, HIIT, yoga, Pilates and workouts for wheelchair users), manual lap marking and guided breathwork. If those matter to you, check the current Connect+ terms before buying.

Who it is for

The CIRQA suits people who want trustworthy health and activity data without another screen to check, for instance people who find a watch distracting, who wear a traditional watch they do not want to replace, or who want sleep and recovery insight in a light, comfortable package. It is also a plausible secondary device for Garmin watch owners who prefer something simpler for sleep or the gym. It is a weaker fit for runners and cyclists who want pace, heart rate or navigation on the wrist while moving.
