The Garmin Forerunner 570 was announced on 15 May 2025 together with the Forerunner 970, as Garmin's latest GPS running and triathlon smartwatches. The pitch is training tools, recovery insights and personalised workouts on what Garmin calls its brightest AMOLED displays yet. Garmin says the 570 offers up to 11 days of battery in smartwatch mode, while the 970 goes up to 15. This page covers the 570 on its own, based on the shared press release. We attribute the claims to Garmin and note what is missing at the end.

Display and design

Garmin describes a vivid touchscreen display combined with a purpose-built five-button design, so athletes can get quick, all-weather access to training tools, everyday health stats and smart notifications. The Forerunner 570 is available in two sizes, 42 mm and 47 mm, and has an aluminum bezel. New colourways include raspberry with a translucent bone and mango band, amp yellow with a translucent whitestone and turquoise band, and indigo with a translucent imperial purple and indigo band. The premium materials of the 970, a sapphire lens and titanium bezel, are listed in the release as exclusive to that model.

Speaker, microphone and everyday connections

A built-in speaker and microphone let you make and take calls from the watch when it is paired with a compatible smartphone. You can control watch functions by voice or use the phone's voice assistant to reply to text messages. The 570 also delivers smart notifications with an iPhone or Android phone, phone-free music from Spotify, Deezer or Amazon Music with a premium subscription, Garmin Pay contactless payments, and safety features such as incident detection, assistance and LiveTrack when paired with a phone. Footnotes point to Garmin's pages for the requirements of the safety features and for which countries, networks and banks support payments.

Training features

For running, Garmin lists training status, wrist-based running power and running dynamics, acute load, training effect, performance condition and VO2 max. Each morning a training readiness score, based on sleep quality, recovery and training load, indicates whether to go hard or take it easy. A daily suggested workout adapts after each run to reflect performance and recovery, and Garmin Coach plans for running, cycling and strength are available for training towards an event. Outdoors, PacePro provides grade-adjusted pacing guidance for a race strategy, and SatIQ technology with multi-band GPS is said to give superior positioning accuracy while optimising battery life.

Triathlon and multisport

New for both watches are free Garmin Triathlon Coach training plans that adapt daily and deliver personalised workouts based on performance, recovery and health metrics. You can set up and customise them and view a week of workouts in Garmin Connect. Custom step-by-step multisport workouts can be created in Garmin Connect and sent to the watch so that it switches between sport types during a session.

New in Garmin Connect for race day

When you add a course to an event in Garmin Connect, three race features become available on both watches. Auto lap by timing gates triggers laps when you cross mile or kilometre course points instead of relying on GPS distance. Suggested finish line offers to trim recorded data at the finish if you forget to press stop. The projected race time predictor shows an estimated finish time and pace if your training continues to race day. These are useful in that they address the small mismatches between GPS distance and race course markers.

Health and recovery

The 570 tracks sleep score, Body Battery energy monitoring, stress, menstrual cycle, pregnancy and HRV status. New are an evening report, which before bedtime reminds you of the sleep needed and shows tomorrow's workout, weather and events, and skin temperature tracking, which can relate to activity, sleep environment and potential illness and helps provide improved period predictions and past ovulation estimates. Pulse Ox-based breathing variations show shifts in breathing patterns during sleep. Footnotes say the menstrual cycle feature should not be used for conception, contraception or birth control and that Pulse Ox is not a medical device and is not available in all countries.

What the 970 adds

To be clear about scope, the release lists several features as exclusive to the Forerunner 970: a sapphire lens and titanium bezel, the LED flashlight, running tolerance, running economy and step speed loss (which need the separate HRM 600 heart rate monitor), the ECG app, and full-colour built-in mapping. So the 570 does not include mapping, the flashlight or the ECG app, according to this document. Our separate Forerunner 970 page covers those.

The 570 and 970 at a glance

Put together, the release describes the two watches like this. The 570 has 42 and 47 mm sizes, an aluminum bezel, up to 11 days of battery and a price of 549.99 dollars. The 970 has a single 47 mm size in carbon gray DLC titanium, titanium and soft gold titanium finishes, up to 15 days of battery, built-in maps, a sapphire lens and a price of 749.99 dollars. Both share the display, the speaker and microphone, the Triathlon Coach plans, the evening report, skin temperature and the three new race features in Garmin Connect. Garmin says the 970 "builds upon" the 570, which is a helpful way to read the pair: the 570 is the base, and the 970 adds materials, mapping and extra running analysis.

Price and availability

The Forerunner 570 has a suggested retail price of 549.99 US dollars, and it was available to order on Garmin.com on 21 May 2025. The 970 was priced at 749.99 dollars, so the difference of 200 dollars buys the extra materials, mapping and running metrics.

What the announcement leaves out

The release does not give display size or resolution, weights, water rating, memory for music, or battery life in GPS mode. The 11-day figure is a smartwatch-mode maximum. Claims about brightness are relative to Garmin's own earlier watches. Metrics such as running power and performance condition are Garmin's algorithms and not independently verified in this document.

Who should look at it

The Forerunner 570 suits runners and triathletes who want training guidance, a bright screen and calls on the wrist without paying for the extra materials and mapping of the 970. If mapping matters, choose the Forerunner 970, and the Forerunner 570 versus 970 page sets them side by side. Those who prefer a health-first watch at the same price can read about the Garmin Venu 4, and adventurers may prefer the Garmin fenix 8. See also the whole smartwatch section.
