The TCL NXTPAPER 11 Plus is an 11.5-inch Android tablet built around a matte, paper-like display. TCL announced it at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on 3 March 2025 as an AI-powered tablet, and it combines a 2.2K 120Hz screen with the NXTPAPER 4.0 eye-comfort technology, a MediaTek Helio G100 processor, quad speakers, an 8,000 mAh battery and 33W charging in a body that is 6.55 mm thick. This page is based on the published specifications and manufacturer information from TCL's global product page, its launch press release and TCL's Canadian specification table, and it marks TCL's statements as claims.

Place in the lineup

NXTPAPER is TCL's brand for displays that try to feel like paper: a matte, anti-glare surface, reduced blue light and modes that imitate ink. Tablets with this technology are positioned as reading, note-taking and study devices more than as media tablets, and the NXTPAPER 11 Plus is one of the brand's 11-inch-class models. TCL's press release gives a recommended retail price starting from 249 euros, and the company says the tablet is available across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America; there is no US price on the pages used here, so none is stated. For a sense of the competition in this database, the Galaxy Tab A11 and the Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 are conventional-display alternatives at broadly similar prices, and a TCL NXTPAPER 11 Plus vs. Galaxy Tab A11 comparison puts the specifications side by side.

Design and display

The body measures 260.48 x 176.82 x 6.55 mm and weighs 490 g, according to TCL's specification table, which is slim for an 11-inch tablet but not especially light. The back is dark grey, and TCL's Canadian listing names the colour Onyx Black. A round camera module sits on the back, and the tablet connects to TCL's optional accessories: a flip case with three adjustable positions (standard, compact and a sketch angle) and a T-Pen stylus, both sold separately according to the global product page.

The display is the point of the product. TCL describes an 11.5-inch screen (the Canadian specification table gives 11.45 inches) with a resolution of 2200 x 1440 pixels, a 3:2 aspect ratio that suits documents and reading, and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The panel is an IPS LCD with a matte NXTPAPER surface that TCL says is anti-reflective at any angle and resists fingerprints, and its typical outdoor brightness is 550 nits. TCL claims a colour accuracy of delta E below 1 and 100 percent sRGB coverage, and it says that the new 4.0 version uses a 60-million-level nano-matrix etching process to improve sharpness. The screen-to-body ratio is shown as 87 percent.

The eye-comfort features go beyond the matte surface. A Smart Eye Comfort mode uses AI scene detection to adjust brightness, contrast, gamma, colour temperature, saturation, sharpness and refresh rate depending on what you are doing, and a personalised mode lets you tune those results. A feature called VersaView offers three modes: Ink Paper for e-reader-like reading, Color Paper with warm tones for magazines and comics, and a regular full-colour mode for browsing and streaming. A programmable NXTPAPER Key on the frame can be set to launch apps, shortcuts, screen modes or AI tools with single, double and long presses. As with all matte screens, the trade-off is that very fine detail and colour pop look slightly less crisp than on a glossy panel, even though the resolution is high.

Performance, memory and software

The processor is the MediaTek Helio G100 (model MT8781), an octa-core chip built on a 6nm process that TCL says runs at up to 2.2GHz. This is a mid-range chip aimed at web browsing, video, reading and light gaming, not at demanding 3D games. The memory is 8GB of RAM in the Canadian specification table, and TCL's press release lists 8GB or 12GB models, both with 256GB of storage; the global page also advertises 8GB of RAM expansion that borrows storage, which is a convenience and not extra physical memory. The Canadian table states that microSD is not supported, so the 256GB (of which about 226GB is available to the user) is all you get.

The operating system is Android 15 according to the Canadian specification table. TCL's pages mention regular system upgrades and security updates but do not give a number of years or upgrades, so it is worth checking before you buy. TCL also builds an AI toolbox into the software: Smart Voice Memo can create meeting minutes, mind maps, to-do lists and summaries; Writing Assist suggests drafts for essays and emails; Text Assist can translate, rewrite or summarise text; the Smart Translator handles text, image and voice translation; and real-time subtitles are available for videos, audio and meetings. These are TCL's descriptions, and the quality in different languages will vary.

Writing, camera and audio

The T-Pen stylus, an optional accessory, offers 4096 pressure levels and latency of under 5 ms according to TCL, and the company says that the matte surface mimics the natural resistance of writing on paper. Handwriting can be converted into text across applications. Because the stylus is sold separately, the price of a note-taking setup is higher than the starting price of the tablet itself.

The cameras are modest: 8MP on the front and 8MP on the back. The Canadian table gives the rear camera autofocus and a single LED flash with video up to 1080p at 30 frames per second, while the front camera has fixed focus and a screen flash. TCL highlights a CerterFace stabilisation feature for video calls that keeps the speaker's face centred and in focus while they move. For documents, whiteboard snapshots and calls the cameras are adequate; they are not meant for photography. The audio side is stronger: four speakers with a DTS algorithm and dual microphones, plus a volume booster of up to 200 percent, which TCL says improves bass and dialogue clarity.

Battery and charging

The battery is 8,000 mAh, paired with 33W PD fast charging and 1.5A reverse charging, which lets the tablet charge a phone as a power bank. TCL's internal lab tests give up to 60 days of standby, and the Canadian table lists about 1 hour 50 minutes to charge fully. The 33W charger is sold separately and is not included in the box. TCL also states that the battery meets EU eco-design requirements, meaning that it is designed to retain at least 80 percent of its capacity after 1,000 full charge cycles. A large battery in combination with an LCD that does not need very high brightness should give good endurance for reading and video, but TCL does not publish a video-playback hour figure on the pages used here.

Connectivity and extras

The Canadian specification table lists Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.3, a USB Type-C port that is also used for headsets, OTG charging, a mobile hotspot for up to 10 devices and face recognition. There is no fingerprint sensor and no NFC. Neither microSD nor cellular connectivity is listed, so the tablet should be treated as a Wi-Fi device.

Who it is for

The NXTPAPER 11 Plus is aimed at students, readers and professionals who spend hours on documents, PDFs and notes and who find ordinary screens tiring. It is also a sensible family tablet for people who prefer a matte, low-glare display for video and e-books, and an option for note-takers who plan to add the stylus.

Compromises

Overall, the TCL NXTPAPER 11 Plus is a distinctive tablet for reading and writing, with a screen that is clearly its main selling point and an AI toolbox that adds convenience. To see how it ranks against other tablets in the database, open the rankings page.
